Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

I received this 50ml sample of *Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel in the post from BzzAgent. After receiving this product and reading up on the product my first impressions are positive.

"Hydro Boost Water Gel instantly quenches dry skin and keeps it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day. The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream. It boosts skin's hydration level and locks it in all day.

Naturally found in the skin, hydrating hyaluronic acid acts as a sponge for dry skin cells, moisturizing with up to 1,000 times its weight in water, resulting in more supple and smooth skin."

The product claims to lock the moisture into your skin, my skin is in a pretty bad place at the moment being quite dehydrated and spots everywhere! *sad face* so i’m hoping this product gives it that boost it claims.

Upon opening the product, I was quite pleased with the packing, it comes in a lovely blue pot which is attractive to the eye. The product itself is quite a thin consistency but once applied to your face it absorbs nicely into the skin within seconds and does not leave your skin feeling sticky. Once I had applied the product to my skin using a circular motion it left my skin feeling incredibly soft. So far I have tried it before applying my foundation, due to my skin being in a bad place my foundation doesn’t seem to be blending as well as it normally does, however after using this product it has provided the perfect base for my foundation leaving my makeup looking pretty darn perfect!

I am excited to keep on testing this product out to see whether it does everything it claims! I shall keep you posted!

Lush 20th Birthday!

It may come as no surprise that I am a huge Lush fan and also i’m super lucky that my partner works there too.  Lush have recently had their 20th birthday and as part of that sent all of their staff members a gorgeous 20th birthday goody box which is really generous of them.

How nice is the box!? an absolutely gorgeous photo of their experimented bath bomb, I always have to give Lush credit for their packaging it is beyond amazing.

The box contains a number of exclusive new product inventions, the box that Evan received contained Kinky Hair Treatment, Love and Light Hand Cream, Life’s a Beach Body Scrub Powder, The Experimenter Bath Bomb, Pumice Powder, Odango Solid Shampoo and Outback Mate Soap.

Ultimate Spa Bathroom

Images from Pintrest

I absolutely love my little pamper sessions, lets be honest who doesn’t?! I always try and make time for them to help me to unwind a little and find time for just me. With my partner working at Lush and also being a blogger I am never short of any pamper essentials especially as my all time favourite products have got to be face masks, though there is always something lacking for me to fully unwind and relax and that’s my bathroom!

We currently rent our home so I can’t really do much to the bathroom other than some candles and plants but I have always had this image in my head of how I would want my perfect bathroom to look.  If money was no object then to be honest I would go absolutely wild, because lets be honest who wouldn’t! it would be perfect and fitting to how I had visioned it.

UK Bathrooms have been carrying out some research into what people would like to create their own ultimate spa bathroom if money was no object. UK Bathrooms asked 1,000 UK residents over the age of 18 and had found that steam showers, whirlpool baths, sensory showers and home saunas were at the top of peoples must haves for creating their ideal spa bathroom. To be honest I would love all those features in my bathroom too!

My perfect spa bathroom would definitely have to be white and warm grey walls, fitted with a gorgeous cast iron bath and underfloor heating would definitely be a must for me as there is nothing worse than getting out of a toasty bath and being cold! I think that plants and candles would give the bathroom that spa feel making you feel more relaxed and definitely be at the top of my to buy list. I would also love my walls to have have lovely prints such as inspirational quotes making you feel good. Finally to finish my ultimate spa bathroom off I would definitely have to have a huge well lit vanity area just because what girl wouldn’t.

The Better Decorating Bible have also featured a post on ways to do a chic and cheap spa-style bathroom makeover no matter what size your bathroom is!

Lush Toothy Tabs!

Apologies for the lack of posts lately ladies & gents, I have been working block shifts so i’ve not really had time to do any blogging. I am hoping in a couple of weeks I shall get back into my blogging routine. Anyway, onto today’s post..

For the past month or so I have been trialing different Lush toothy tabs that they currently offer in their stores featuring Dirty, Sparkle, Atomic (£2.50) and many more.  If you don’t know what toothy tabs are then they are basically an natural alternative for toothpaste, you take one of the tabs and crush it inbetween your teeth to which they instantly froff up ready for you to brush your teeth.

I didn’t really toothy tabs such as Dirty and Sparkle in my opinion I couldn’t really taste anything but bicarbonate soda which for me was really off putting when brushing my teeth. I did however manage to settle with Atomic, being a huge cinnamon fan these were definitely the ones for me and no taste of bicarbonate soda in sight!

If your a follower of my blog then you will have probably seen my post on Lush Oxford Street, I saw that they had a whole new range of toothy tabs which included Miles of Smiles, Lime Light, Bling and Oral Pleasure. I went straight ahead and smelt Lime Light instantly falling in love with the citrusy scent, I HAD to buy these. When I finally got home after about 5 bloody hours of travelling I cracked the bottle open and tested these beauties out, my mouth was in heaven! They tasted so good, good enough to eat even, so brushing my teeth is now a joy and they’re cruelty free so what more could you want.

Finally just a quick note on packaging, I cannot thank whoever decided to swap to plastic containers enough, they are a godsend! I was constantly getting sick of my tabs going soft and damp due to the moisture in my bathroom and the previous cardboard packaging.

LUSH Solid Perfumes

I have always been lured in with the Lush scent, I can smell the shop from a distance and I am always like a kid at christmas in the store. I shop at Lush on a regular basis and I pretty much have almost all my everyday products changed over.

As an everyday essential I use perfumes but only recently have I started using Lush perfumes so when I saw that there was some solid perfumes I had to grab a couple. I decided to grab the Dirty Solid Perfume (12g £6.50) as I have always loved the dirty range, the invigorating note of spearmint draws me in. I also picked up Vanillary (12g £7.00) the smell of vanilla just draws me in and makes me want to eat it, it is lovely and sweet but not overpowering which is what I like about this, to me this solid perfume has quite a creamy texture. This wonderful little pot contains fair trade vanilla absolute. Finally I picked up Sun (12g £5) after my trip down to Oxford Street a couple of weeks ago, we went through the perfume gallery and the room was set up like a beach hut, with a scene projected onto the screen. The atmosphere really complimented the fragrance and instantly uplifted my mood.

I have been using these solid perfumes rubbed behind my ears and on my wrists as these are your warm spots so throughout the day they warm up and radiate the fragrance.

Overall, I am really pleased with these little 12g pots of perfume, they are definitely a great handbag feature. The scent lingers all day without being sticky.

Getting Fit! Week 1

For the past six months or so I have been umming and ahhing about starting running, I started to do a few bits of excersize previously mainly focused on toning my stomach and just to generally get fitter but that soon went out the window when my dad came to visit and cake eating creeped in… oops. So after a few weeks of saying I wanted to get started on running I have finally taken the plunge, I find it quite hard to find time to do it as I have a one year old and a job but I am definitely going to try and do it even if it’s just once a week. I am mainly doing this to try and get a little fitter and get rid of my cake belly, oh how I do love my cake. I must shamefully admit I do get quite out of breath walking up a flight of stairs or a hill.

My partner started running using a C25K app on his iphone last year and within 8 weeks he was able to do 5k, so he definitely recommended that I started on that! What the app does is that it starts anyone that doesn’t run or hasn’t ran in ages to begin with short bursts of running mixed with increments of walking, as weeks pass running time increases and walking decreases until your able to run 5k.

Today I started, I found a local park because I do not think I would be too confident running on a main road and luckily there was only about 5 people there. My partner came with me for a little bit of encouragement and because he has completed the app before so it was nice to have someone there who knew what they were doing because I totally didn’t. The app has 8 weeks with 3 days in each week to complete so obviously we started on week 1 day 1, this involved a brisk five-minute warm up walk, then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Now when I first read what the plan was I did think it was a little easy but I was totally wrong, running up hill was really hard for me though flat ground was a little easier to manage, but I did manage to complete the session, yay!

This is currently my stomach it is definitely not what it used to be which is expected when you have carried a little lady for 9 months and also the fact that she weighed in at a whopping 9lb 12oz, along with the cake addiction. I also want to get out there that I am not one for taking my baby weight to heart as I am proud for what my body has achieved and although I want to tone my body I am definitely not disheartened by how my stomach looks, I would like to think that I embrace it! 🙂

Have you got any running advice? I would love to know your tips and tricks.

Lush Oxford Street

I was in London with my partner at the weekend to attend a toy convention that we go to every year, at the same time it was the opening of the biggest Lush store in the world, Lush Oxford Street. I really really wanted to attend as I have been following their Instagram for their new exclusive products, but obviously we had a super busy weekend planned.

On Sunday it was time to head home but we had a little time before needing to get to Victoria so we headed to Oxford Street to see if it was open but unfortunately it opened at 12pm and our coach back to Manchester was at 11am. We managed to get my sister to look after my little girl for a little longer and arranged a later coach time because how can you pass up visiting while your already there! as you may know from previous posts I am a huge Lush fan.

After lots of Costa finally the doors opened at 12pm, there was a little queue but the shop filled out quickly. Three whole stories of Lush goodness with 200 exclusive products, I was literally in heaven!

We had to rush around a little so we could definitely make the coach and spent a total of a hour and half around the different floors. The ground floor which was the entrance of the store consisted of skincare, haircare and makeup, the top floor had bath bombs, bubble bars, bath oils, fun and gift sets, and the basement had the lush spa, the perfume gallery also including fresh face masks, candles and perfumes.

Throughout the whole of the Lush store it was extremely well organised and brilliantly laid out in my opinion, I really loved the quirky features which ranged from modern and vintage my personal favourite being the copper piped sinks. The staff members were really welcoming which instantly made me feel at ease, they even took our suitcase in the back so we weren’t lugging a lot around whilst trying to look at all the products. This really made the experience 100 times better for us.

I literally almost went around sniffing EVERYTHING! I was in absolute awe with all the products. I really love that they have now decided to bring in new bottle and pot sizes, so now you can get small, medium, large and extra large, so you can get 1kg of your favourite shower gel! I seriously cannot express how excited I am that I can get 1kg of Comforter shower gel.. wow.

I already own quite a few makeup products, so it was really nice to see a bunch of new products in the store. One of the staff members showed me around the new products and talked through each of them, she was really informative and really friendly. Some of the new makeup line included eye brow products, eyeshadows, lipsticks and colour supplement.

As mentioned there was different floors that targeted certain products which was really good for those who only want certain things. The base floor included a perfume gallery which sounded really interesting, so we went to have a look.

Downstairs was instantly a lot more relaxing, we went into this dark entrance and given a pair of headphones which was playing music, the instructions were given to us before we left the room. Once we walked through the blacked out curtains we were greeted by a wall of screens, these we CCTV recordings of each of the rooms and what was happening in them, I must admit it was a little strange.

The next room had 3 smallish booths, SIKKIM GIRLS, The Voice Of Reason and Stayin’ Alive. We entered each of the booths, Sikkim Girls had the perfume vapour circling the room, we were instructed to put the headphones on and listen to the music whilst looking through the peep hole to a video. It was a strange experience, but with the music and scent in the room it made me feel quite relaxed. The second room was The Voice Of Reason, this room had a record player in again with the scent circling the room, the music played was quite jazzy reminding me of being in an old smoking bar as this is what the scent represents. The final booth was the Stayin’ Alive booth, we had afro wigs and accessories that we could put on and entered the disco booth where the Bee Gees were playing and we were able to snap a selfie to email to ourselves.

The next stage was for The Sun perfume, we walked into a beach styled room with a projected video on the wall, sandpits with deck chairs and a lovely beach hut styled seat. We had a sit down and a smell of the perfume, it made it feel really summery and instantly uplifted my mood.

The final room to me looked quite gallery like, there were three jugs with little glass bottles next to them on one side and then one jug and glass bottle on it’s own. The staff member talked through each bottle, they were three original perfumes with stories behind them which was really interesting to hear, we had the opportunity to test each out too. The bottle on it’s own was all three of these perfumes combined to make one, The Smell Of Freedom. Personally I wasn’t too keen on this, but I loved the whole experience of the perfume gallery, it was a really nice touch and definitely would recommend doing if your in the store.

I brought back a large bag full of Lush goodies and could definitely have spent a lot more time and bought a lot more exclusives. I shall also be reviewing the individual products I bought on a separate post. Overall, the experience was absolutely amazing the staff made it really enjoyable and a relaxed experience which definitely made a huge impact.

The Buddha Beauty Company

I have never heard of The Buddha Beauty before so I was interested to find out more, they are located in Manchester so they are quite local for me and a huge bonus is that they are cruelty free, vegan and gluten free. I was kindly sent this *Organic Sweet Orange Dry Body Oil (£9.50) to test out for myself. Straight out of the box I was impressed with the simplistic look of the packaging. The royal blue contrasts against the white and looks really nice along with the mustard yellow. As soon as I opened this bottle to give it a sniff I was blown away by just how amazing the smell is. It does not smell synthetic like a lot of high street brands do, it smells so pure and soothing. The natural ingredients included are: Almond oil and Sweet Orange Essential oil which makes me happy as it contains no perfumes and no preservatives.

To use this product you “Hold the bottle around 30cm away form your skin and spray a light layer all over your body paying particular attention to any dry areas of skin, after a few moments the oil will dry leaving your skin silky smooth” This is a really nice product because like it says above it does not leave an oily film on your body and skin which a huge plus because it means I can pick up my daughter without her slipping out of my hands. My skin feels absolutely amazing after using this and the smell of orange lingers on my skin for hours.

This 250ml bottle is definitely going to last me a long time as with it being an atomiser on top it means that barely any is used per spray but still goes a very long way, overall I am very happy with this product and definitely think I will be picking up more from the Bhudda Beauty store due to them being such reasonable prices and all natural products.

EtailPR Body Jewellery Shop

I was kindly accepted onto an EtailPR campaign for the Body Jewellery Shop. If you have never heard of the Body Jewellery Shop then the name pretty much speaks for itself. The Body Jewellery Shop has a range of 12,000 products which include body jewellery, piercing tools, fashion accessories and coloured contact lenses for such low prices.

I am a huge fan of piercings, I currently have my nose, snakebites and septum pierced and I also have my ears stretched, but I know that is not everyone’s cup of tea. As part of the campaign I was able to browse through a number of products and make a selection as to what I wanted as my first, second and third choices, as you are not always able to get your first choice.

I was kindly sent the *Wooden Flesh Plug – Mongolian Hat (£6.00), I absolutely adore wooden flesh plugs in my opinion they look far more expensive than plastic ones. I love the wooden texture on these which is great for those who are a fan of organic made body jewellery. Their Mongolian Hat flesh plugs have a concave surface with a slightly rounded middle, these are also double flared which means that they stay securely in your stretched ears without the use of O rings.

I was also kindly sent the *Steel Labret Stud (£1.95) which is suitable for a number of things such as ear piercing and labret piercings. I currently use this labret stud in my lip and it feels really comfortable to wear, the back of the stud which will be against your teeth has a flat base making it less likely to chip your teeth. I have also found that when I have been wearing these I have not caught them whilst eating my food which is a bonus. The only thing that I would say that I dislike about these labret studs is that the balls are so fiddly to put on so a pair of latex gloves are handy to have, seriously the amount of times that I have lost the ball to them is insane.

Overall, I really like these products that Body Jewellery Shop gifted to me for the review, they are incredible quality for such a low price. If you have any piercings or are thinking of getting one I would definitely check out Body Jewellery Shop as they have some great prices.

I’d love to know what piercings you have and what jewellery you wear in them!

Spooky Eyes

I was kindly accepted onto an EtailPR campaign for Spooky Eyes, which are a UK based company  who specialise in crazy, natural and Halloween cosmetic contact lenses. Spooky Eyes also stock over 500 designs for different occasions are great prices. If you have worked with EtailPR before then you know the drill that you choose 3 different samples as your first, second and third choice which I managed to get my first in this case (YAY).

I was sent the *Spooky Eyes Black Contact Lenses (28.95$), I have always wanted to have black contact lenses so bad, every time that I have seen them in vampire or demon films I always think that they look super cool so that’s where that has sprung from.

I have actually never used contact lenses before so I was unsure how to actually put them in and was extremely thankful that my partner was to hand as he wears prescription contacts so he helped me. Putting them in was a total struggle for me, at any point that they were going anywhere near my eyeball I kept blinking which was such a pain in the arse though no fault of Spooky Eyes but down to my own inexperience. Once I had finally got the contacts in, which literally took forever I must admit that they looked awesome but it took some getting used to as my eyes are quite a light blue and something was stuck to my eyeball. The contact lenses took a few minutes to get used to especially if you have never worn them before but after those first few minutes they feel really comfortable. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed with was that I could still see my original part of my eye colour and the contact lenses were not completely blacked out however that may be because my pupils were not dilated as you can see from my photo.

Overall, I am extremely impressed with the lenses at Spooky Eyes I love that they have such a wide range of contact lenses for a number of events or just to wear, I would definitely recommend them to others.

Fancy some awesome funky eyes? Check out Spooky Eyes over on their store.
