As soon as 1st September hit like most bloggers it was autumn in my eyes, I always love this time of year, all the dark cosy nights in with autumn inspired candles, chunky knitwear & plenty of hot chocolates.. cliche I know.
Candles to me are the one thing that instantly makes any room look a little bit more cosier and homely, I tend to ALWAYS have a couple of candles in each room, I blame my mother for that but I was out of any autumn inspired candles so I was seriously lacking those cosy vibes. Of course that had to be dealt with, right?
I headed straight over to the Yankee Candles and had a good old sniff of them all, Spiced Orange (£23.99) instantly caught my eye with it’s dark orange colour and scent. Spiced Orange has fragrance notes of fresh ginger, juicy citrus, ozone, spicy accord and sugared vanilla. It honestly smells incredible and fills the whole room with a spicy scent.
I opted for a large jar which burns between 110-150 hours, there’s nothing worse than your favourite candle running out after 20 hours. Usually I tend to stay away from Yankee Candles because of the price tag is pretty ridiculous at times but I just couldn’t say no to this!
I’ve been burning this none stop for the past week, it honestly smells incredible and perfect for those cosy cold and rainy days!
What’s your perfect autumn scent?
This post is really just a quick one to show you my top 10 movies on Netflix to give you a few ideas of what to watch yourself. I absolutely love binging on movies & TV shows, but when it comes to Netflix I tend to struggle as I run out of things to watch leaving me to re watch things i’ve already seen so I usually head to Twitter for inspiration. I don’t really have a certain type of film of what I watch, I love them all but I do tend to lean towards the horror types which I end up watching on my lonesome as the husband absolutely hates them.
The Maze Runner, The Interview, Pans Labyrinth, The Hobbit, Gone Girl, Good Will Hunting, In Your Eyes, Hush, Saw VI & Craft
What is your favourite film on Netflix?
***Disclaimer – REALLY SENSITIVE topic***
Mental Health is always a touchy and sensitive topic for anyone that is going through it or has experienced it in the past, with 1 in 4 people experiencing mental health in the UK and 1 in 10 young people will experience a mental health problem. With working in the mental health sector as a support worker it is definitely something people need educating about as there’s not a lot of understanding surrounding mental health and the different disorders there is, which leads to a lot of stigma surround it there is absolutely no shame in having a mental health problem.
Mental health hits close to home for me, I have experienced depression about 5 years ago when I was with my abusive boyfriend, at first he was lovely and then he totally changed I would say he didn’t necessarily hit me but put pressure on my arms to restrict me from moving sometimes leaving bruises, was controlling and always played mind games but at the same time reverting back to the person I first met, it got to the point that honestly I didn’t want to be around anymore I just felt utterly useless and stuck in a rut it triggered i’d say unresolved feelings about the death of my mum. My mind would instantly wander to thinking of my mum, the grief of when she passed away and not the thoughts of the good times before she passed away but the bad when she went through domestic violence herself on many occasions I saw first hand so as you would imagine wouldn’t do well for my deteriorating mental health.
After months and months of being with him and constantly feeling utter rubbish I took myself off to the doctors who prescribed antidepressants, and of course that didn’t go down well with him as he kept making me feel like I was attention seeking. After a year of being with him I was lucky enough to be speaking to a guy that I had met through Instagram who is now my husband, he made me realise how much he was controlling me without knowing about the situation, it helped me finally open my eyes. It’s so easy to get blind sighted being with someone who is controlling and nasty even after promising yourself you would never put yourself in that situation regardless of what any one says.
I took the antidepressants for quite a while, they seemed to work but I really needed to get myself out of the relationship where one day I really just had enough of feeling so horrible, it’s not me and to be honest I thought that i’ve been through enough shit in the past without that adding onto it, I broke free of the relationship and persisted despite the endless calls, texts and turning up outside my flat and it honestly was the best thing i’ve ever done. I now no longer need the antidepressants, I have a lovely husband and the most beautiful daughter and aiming to go back to university to progress my psychology degree and do mental health nursing, don’t get me wrong I do feel depressed at points surrounding anniversaries of my mum which as you’d imagine is understandable but it’s manageable without medication.
Your mental health is important, it doesn’t matter if you feel it’s the smallest thing in comparison to others it still matters. If you are suffering from any form of mental health speak to someone, a friend, a family member, a charity, your GP, it is really important that you don’t let it take over your life. I’d like to think that I will always make time for anyone that wants a chat if they’re feeling low.
I was kindly invited along to the Katje’s 3D Printed Candy event in Cardiff with my husband, the event was on a stall in the shopping centre which is not the kind of event i’ve been to before.
“The Magic Candy Factory is the world’s first 3D gummy candy printer which gives the customer’s imagination all the power and allow them to create truly customised & delicious gifts and treats.”
When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely team and the founder Melissa Snover who showed us the 3D printers which were absolutely beautiful, the printer was in a wooden case with stunning laser cut wooden case, they looked really elegant. The printer allows you to create your very own unique design which practically can be in the form of any design, shapes, letters, photos etc. Once sent to the printer it prints in under 5 minutes, and what’s even better they’re free from everything! that’s right, they are vegan, gluten-free, nut free & dairy free.
These incredibly yummy treats are a perfect gift for all sweet lovers especially with Christmas next week, being a vegetarian I am forever scrolling through the ingredients list to see if they are suitable for me to eat because lets admit it I do love my sweet stuff! Whats good about The Magic Candy Factory is that there is no reading the labels and worrying if they are ok for you to eat.
You can print these yummy treats in a variety of flavours, strawberry, ripe raspberry, marvellous mango, luscious lemon, beautiful blackcurrant, elegant elderberry, gorgeous apple and tasty tropical blue and then finish them off with three different sprays, glitter dust, sour dust and fizzy dust.
For a bit more of a nosey of what went on take a look at Evan’s YouTube vid.
When it comes to fitness I have always put it off because when i’m not working I just want to come home and relax on my days off and plus there is the fact that I am just a little bit lazy so it would mean having to peel myself off the sofa, also there’s no one to watch the little lady as my husband is working or going the gym himself. In the past I used to run outdoors using the C25K app but was forever being put off by the weather.
The thought of the gym is pretty daunting, all those fitness freaks around me judging me is what goes through my head everything I think of signing up, and then the issue with getting a baby sitter and finding the time between work shifts just made it too much of a hassle, this changed when a Next Generation Fitness opened up across the road which is crazy cheap compared to everywhere else (12.99 for off peak hours) and even offers a crèche for Scarlett, the best part? there is a ladies only section so no more worry of working out in front of groups of people *phew*
“Our gym is packed with the very best in industry leading cardio and plate loaded equipment. Convenient with ample parking and offering facilities other local gyms cannot match.”
What the membership offers:
1 month contracts, Free joining up fee, Classes, Sauna & Crèche
Most of you will probably know that I am quite a shy person to begin with, but once you get to know me I open up so with such friendly, interactive and welcoming staff at Next Generation Fitness it has helped tonnes, they’ve been fantastic with Scarlett too, she absolutely loves it and is always excited to go.
All of these benefits means that this has been a huge confidence boost for me as I am still getting used to the machines and as I mentioned above I always feel self conscious. The gym also have 1-2-1 support and lots of popular classes to keep me engaged and interested.
Unfortunately this isn’t a gym franchise and is only available in Newport but I think if other gyms across the UK took a leaf out of Next Generation Fitness’s book then working out for busy parents could be a whole heap easier.
As you may know if your a reader of my blog I have recently started a getting fit series where I have started running a couple of days a week using the C25K app on my phone which you can see my first days progress here.
If you haven’t heard of the C25k app then it is a phone app that is downloadable starting anyone who doesn’t run or those who haven’t in quite a while to begin with short bursts of running mixed with increments of walking, as weeks pass running time increases and walking decreases until your able to run 5k.
So as I mentioned I started using this app last week starting on week one which was split into three days, I managed to complete all three days surprisingly no problem, they were hard as I am not used to running but hurrah I managed it and it felt good. Which brings me on week 2 of the app, again this is split into three days as each week is involving a five minute brisk warmup walk, then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of twenty minutes. I was quite surprised how 30 seconds added on would make such a difference as it really doesn’t seem that long.
I must admit I did struggle with those extra 30 seconds and could definitely feel it at the back of my calfs but I managed day one and I am so proud of myself for finally getting out there and doing it. Music is such a HUGE help to me when running as it definitely influences me to keep going those extra few seconds giving me the little push I need and plus it makes it a little more enjoyable.
Is there anything that helps motivate you when it comes to running or any other types of fitness?
My Little Box (RRP £11.00 plus P&P)
For the past couple of months I have been subscribed to Glossybox but I seem to be loosing interest in them so I have decided to do Glossybox as a one off rather than subscription. I have also seen quite a lot of the My Little Box’s over Instagram and must admit they have won me over with their super cute designs and products included in the boxes! If you have not heard of My Little Box before then it is a “hand-picked and beautifully designed box of fashion, beauty and lifestyle surprises. With accessories, products and other goodies created exclusively for you and based around a different theme every month, each box promises to delight the lucky recipient”
This months box is My Little Superbox which has a gorgeous chic comic box styled box, I am definitely a fan of this. In this months box there is a total of 5 products which range from beauty, fashion and lifestyle worth over £65.
Upon opening the box I was greeted by a lovely branded ribbon and some Super Stickers (£4.00) which have a variety of stickers from super woman outfits to quotes. I do quite like these stickers they are really cute but to be honest they are still sat in the box as I do not know what to do with them. There was also included in the box a t-shirt designed by Gat Rimon and My Little Box (£29), a gorgeous light grey t-shirt which has “I believe I can Fly” printed on the chest area. This definitely fits in with the theme of the box and I must admit this is definitely my new favourite t-shirt, the only downside is that it is one size! I do tend to like my t-shirts to be a little baggier.
In terms of beauty items that were included in the box was My Little Box’s own makeup brand My Little Beauty, I have always loved this about the box when I have seen pictures of other blogger’s goodies. This month they have included Crayon Lips & Cheeks (14 €), which came in a gorgeous drawstring bag with “My Little Box” and bows all over. The crayon doesn’t actually say what shade it is so I can’t really tell you but it is quite a bright peachy pink but not too in your face. I absolutely love the formula of this, when applied to your hand it is quite chalky making it easier to blend on your cheeks though when applied on your lips it is moisturising but it doesn’t stay put for long whilst eating and drinking.
Also included in the gorgeous drawstring bag was a 75ml tube of Kerastase Lait Crystal Conditioner (£7.50) a generous sample size. This conditioner is aimed at those with dry lengths or ends, so if you have dry hair like me then this conditioner will be perfect for you. I am super excited to try this product out as my hair does tend to dry out really easy, the conditioner is enriched with plant origin extract which leaves your hair looking smoother with a feather light finish. Also included in the box was Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream (£4) this has been my handbag must have, it is incredibly hydrating for my hands making them super soft. I have really dry hands since returning to work after maternity leave, I have to wash them twice as much as I usually do so it really dries them out but this hand cream has worked wonders for them.
Finally the box included a A5 sized magazine which features food recipes, quotes and beauty tips. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this months box it has definitely won me over to subscribe every month.

I was accepted to design a phone case with the company Mr Nutcase thank you to Heather over at Of Beauty and Nothingness for the recommendation. Of course I decided to personalise it with lots of pictures of my little lady baby – I know I might be a little bias but she is absolutely gorgeous. I must commend the company on their speedy delivery, I designed and ordered the case on Wednesday, in which it was dispatched on Thursday and the case arrived on Saturday morning.
The process is really simple, you choose your manufacturer and device, then you choose what case you want which I decided to chose the ultra light weight slimline case. There is a number of design layout options that you can choose from which I just went for a collage of pictures. When the case arrived I was amazed with the quality, the print was not tacky/over stretched at all – it is literally perfect. The print is high quality resilient printing so it is a hardwearing case.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the result and quality of the case, the process on the website when designing your own case is quite simple. You can also design your own case and have 10% off using the code “Thanku10”

*Ozeri Pedometer (RRP £19.99)
I was kindly send this *Ozeri Pedometer as myself and my partner like to do a lot of walking. Let me just say this is like no other pedometer I have ever used. I used to have one where you could just sit there all day shaking it and it would count as steps. It would even add on 10 just by picking it up and putting in your pocket which means the results were way off. This beauty however has so many features its crazy, here is a little run down:
- Records daily steps, stairs climbed, distance, calories burned and exercise time with the world’s most advanced Tri-Axis technology.
- 3D Sensor (X, Y, Z plane detection) provides superior accuracy in any position and unlike conventional pedometers, won’t miss steps.
- New Steps2Target feature tracks and calculates your steps toward your daily target and graphical displays your progress.
- Counts up to 1 million steps with built-in memory for 30 days of activity. Also features a Clock, Calendar & Sports Timer and Auto Sleep Mode technology.
Setting this up takes a good 5 minutes as you have to set your height, weight, daily goals, date, time and even length of step which you calculate by measuring the distance of ten steps (to insure accuracy) and dividing by 10 to get average step distance. The thing that really impressed me about this pedometer is that no matter how much you shake it, there will be no steps recored, it starts counting after 10 consistent steps (but still counts those 10) so no false steps and an accurate result.
The daily goal can be set at anything you like, the suggested amount is between 10 and 15,000 which works out to be about 1.5 – 2 miles depending on step distance. Its super easy to see how close you are to your goal of the day by looking on the left side of the screen at the little symbol showing your progress.
The great thing about this post is not only do you get to be jealous of my beautiful pedometer, you also get the opportunity to win your own as Ozeri has kindly given me another to give away. All you need to do is enter by clicking the link below and follow the instructions. The giveaway will run from today (8th Dec – 21st Dec) and will be posted after the holidays. GOOD LUCK!
Please note that the giveaway is international though as much care as possible will be taken I can not be held responsible for any loss and/or damage in the shipping of the prize.
*Ozeri Rev Weighing Scales (RRP £29.99)
I was kindly sent these *Ozeri Rev weighing scales to review, which I am quite excited to do as I am currently trying to tone and shift some baby weight so a good set of scales are a must. These scales have a synchronised electro-mechanical dial and digital display that automatically illuminates and points to your current weight.
I have been using these scales for the past week or so and I must say I am impressed, the design of the scales are simply stunning – it incorporates a 14cm dial which is integrated with a illuminating digital display and they look great in my bathroom. What I find great about these is that whether the ground is uneven or not the scales calibrate themselves after every movement so that you always have a zeroed starting point (just as you would with a kitchen scales). They also boast StepOn technology which captures your precise weight measurements upon contact which means no more stepping on, stepping off and waiting for it to start up, this means that I have a constant precise weight measurements to journal for my fitness regime. Once you have weighed yourself the scale will turn themselves off after 15 seconds to conserve battery and 5 seconds after stepping off.
Another great aspect of these scales is that they have a 24 hour alarm which reminds your at the same time every day to weight yourself in order to get accurate and consistent reading.
Overall, I am really impressed with the Ozeri Rev weighing scales. They have a fantastic electro-mechanical dial and digital display which illuminates making it easy to clearly read your weight. The scales have also battery conservation and StepOn technology which makes these scales superior to your standard bathroom scale. I would definitely recommend these to others.
Have you tried these Ozeri Rev weighing scales? What do you think?
