Cougar Cosmetics | Festival Makeup #CBFEST

IMG_7539ED

Festival season is still upon us with Leeds & Reading festival coming up this weekend, I must admit I am pretty jealous! The last festivals I attended is Parklife and Bingley which were like YEARS ago.. I kinda felt sorry for myself so i’ve had to do something about that and booked tickets for Nothing But Thieves in November YAY.

Cougar Cosmetics challenged bloggers to create their own festival inspired looks using their *’6 Shades Of Nude’ eyeshadow palette (£13), which features nude and copper mineral eyeshadows. With their beautiful warm colours and autumn fast approaching I had to do a more autumnal festival look, of course.

If your one for nude & copper shades then this palette is definitely going to be right up your street, they are super pigmented with just one sweep across your eyelids and are so buttery blending amazingly well.

With their 6 shades it allows you to create a variety of day and night looks with amazing lasting power, perfect for those festivals.  What makes this palette handy for festivals is that it is so compact, it’s about the size of a blusher palette making it handbag friendly.

The Ordinary | High Coverage Foundation

IMG_7458ED

Good afternoon ladies & gents, it’s been quite a while since my last post. Life has been pretty hectic this last month or so and blogging has taken a back seat unfortunately but here we are with a new post. Heeeeeellllooo, how are you all!?

You will have probably heard of the brand The Abnormal Beauty Company/ DECIEM by now if you are active in the beauty world but just incase you have no idea what I’m talking about then they are a “humble and happy umbrella of good beauty brands” which owns and operates more than 10 different brands such as NIOD, Hylamide, The Chemistry Brand & The Ordinary.

A few of months ago I grabbed a couple of The Ordinary’s skincare items from Asos and I was over the moon with the results so when they announced that they were bringing a high coverage foundation out I HAD to own it!

IMG_7465ED

The foundation is available in 21 different shades which are then divided into four categories 1 for fair to lighter tones, 2 for medium tones and 3 for darker tones. To give even more variety there are then a second digit ranging from 0 to 3 which indicates the depth. Lastly the foundation has a letter which indicates shade for the undertone you need, P for pink, R for red, N for neutral and Y for yellow.

Hats off to them, I love how much variety there is for their foundation. It is literally super easy to choose your foundation and get it right.

IMG_7467ED

IMG_7469ED

I headed over to Victoria Health to purchase my foundation, there was about a month  wait due to being in such high demand. I grabbed the shade 1.0N (£5.90) which is fair to light and neutral undertones.

The packaging is minimalistic but yet elegant, the foundation comes in a plastic frosted container again with simplistic design and a pump yay which makes dispensing mess free! The foundation is 30ml which is your standard size but the packaging makes it the perfect size for your handbag with the added benefit of a twist lock for added reassurance.

The Ordinary claim “when applied, the formulations blend in effortlessly with your natural tones and your skin glows. These foundations contain higher pigment levels than the Serum Foundations but still offer a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged. The texture is that of a lightweight, non-oily cream.”

The picture below is of my skin before the foundation is applied. The current state of my skin is very poor with a bad outbreak on my cheeks and chin.  *sad face*.

IMG_7579ED

I applied The Ordinary’s High Spreadability Fluid Primer using a single pump of the foundation onto the back of my hand and proceeded to use the ‘Real Techniques Buffing Brush’ to apply it in a circular motion working outwards from the midpoint of my face.

The 1.0N shade is the PERFECT match for my skin as usually with other I have found that I have blend it further down my neck in order not to get a line of colour between the applied area and my regular skin. This foundation claims to be high coverage but once applied i’d say it’s around medium, there are still some red areas around my breakouts but nothing a little concealer won’t fix. This foundation blends really well into my skin and leaves a subtle glow which is much needed right now.

The downside I have found with this particular foundation is that it seems to layer up around my problem areas such as my chin and my nose resulting in a ‘cakey’ heavily applied look. This could be due to the current condition of my skin so I look forward to putting it through it’s paces once my skin is back up to scratch.

Taking the previous points into account I am overly impressed with this range of shades and how perfect the colour matches my skin. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has the struggles of finding a foundation to match their skin tone and with absolute steal of a price (£5.90) you have no reason not to go for it, after all it’s cheaper than most of the drug store brands!

Have you tried this foundation ? I would love to hear what you think below or maybe tweet me @beautyandlittle

Poundland | Makeup Gallery

Poundland beauty products? that’s right, the Poundland have their own range of beauty products ‘Makeup Gallery’ as well as a couple of drugstore brands such as Rimmel for of course £1. I thought I would give them a chance and grabbed a couple of their eyeliners as I am always on the look out for a good liquid eyeliner, unfortunately most tend to leave me disappointed with the lasting power.

img_5793

Eyeliner is always a must in my makeup routine, I feel like my makeup doesn’t look right without a good old winged eyeliner so a trusty eyeliner is definitely a must. I grabbed the Glitter Chick Flick Eyeliner £1 and Pro Liquid Eyeliner in Space Grey £1, the packaging is so simple which is sometimes best in my opinion. The Pro Liquid Eyeliner is super pigmented with no need to go over it a second time and it has incredible lasting power, lasting over 12+ hours and smudge free which some drugstore eyeliners don’t even come close to that. Glitter Chick Flick Eyeliner is great to use on top of other liners adding that little bit of sparkle to your eyes. Both eyeliners come with little bristles as a brush rather than a solid/spongey tip if that makes any sense, I usually struggle with doing winged eyeliner no matter how much practice I have, you know the process once you start, then you keep adding extra lines and by the time you know it your winged eyeliner is up to your eyebrows! but these are a dream to do it with making so much easier to control.

Both have exceeded my standards as I wasn’t expecting much being £1 each but they are incredible and definitely deserve a spot in my makeup bag.

Have you tried Poundland makeup? What do you think?

Must Have | Sleek Makeup Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks

Since discovering matte lipsticks I am utterly obsessed, actually obsessed is an understatement, they are pretty much all I wear now. I managed to grab the Sleek Makeup ‘The Magic Word’ set (£5) at Christmas from Boots, it was a little cute set of 4 minis in the shades Birthday Suit, Velvet Slipper, Rioja Red And Old Hollywood but of course my impatience got the better of me and I used them all before blogging them *oops*.

img_5776

I was absolutely obsessed with Velvet Slipper so much that this is one of my most used of the set so I decided to take a stroll to Boots to grab the full sized version, I was a little gutted when I was looking for it all of them had been opened and used but I managed to spot one mixed in with others, it was fate. I grabbed Velvet Slipper along with Vinto Tinto (£4.99 each), Velvet slipper is a mauve kind of shade and Vinto Tinto is a deep berry purple which are both right up my street.

img_5774

img_5782

Sleek claims there is only one coat needed, I’ve found that doing two coats works best for me as it sometimes can be uneven, the pigment of these are lovely and compliment my pale skin perfectly. The matte lipsticks come with a doe foot applicator gliding on with ease similar to using lipgloss but dries matte within seconds and is literally glued to your lips all day long so that definitely ticks long lasting off the list. The formula is super lightweight, comfortable and doesn’t highlight any dry patches on my lips leaving them looking super smooth. I literally cannot live without them, i’d own them all but I tend to stick to darker shades so i’d love to see some more from Sleek.

What’s your most favourite matte lipstick?

Revlon ColourStay Foundation | A Must Have!

When it comes around to that time to buy foundation I always dread it because I struggle buying my shade, being pale most of the lightest shades from drugstores are ivory and tend to have a slight warmer tone to them which I need more of a cooler tone so I tend to go to the more higher end foundations, the only drugstore foundation that i’ve yet got on with is the Boujour Healthy Mix.

I have used Revlon’s Colour Stay foundation in the past, the version without a pump, but it really didn’t get on with my skin, I don’t know if it was a bad batch or something but I found it impossible to blend and it was so thick. A couple of weeks ago I was wandering round Boots swatching different foundations and came across ColourStay again, I tried the pump version and this seemed better suited for me.

Revlon’s ColourStay foundation (£12.99) has 35 different shades and all suitable for all skin types covering dry/normal and combination/oily.

“ColorStay™ Makeup now with a convenient pump applicator for mess free application. Flawless, matte coverage that lasts up to 24 hours.”

I picked up combination/oily in the shade ivory, as i’ve mentioned above ivory tends to be warmer, but this is definitely toned down, it is better suited for my skin without being ghostly white. The foundation is quite thin, which one pump does my whole face sometimes less than that, it is really lightweight and provides medium coverage which is easily buildable without getting that cakey look.

I tend to have quite a bit of redness and dark circles, this foundation works wonders to even out my skin tone leaving me with a fresh and matte looking base. I can honestly vouch for the foundation being long lasting, I can apply the foundation approximately 3pm and work a 12 1/2 hour night shift and it’s still perfect in the morning without looking oily making me look better than I feel.

This honestly is my new favourite and will always have a spot in my makeup bag.

What’s your favourite drugstore foundation?

NYX | Soft Matte Lip Cream

img_4768

If your a regular reader then you will know that i’ve mentioned in previous posts that I have an obsession with lipsticks especially when it comes to those autumn shades and matte lipsticks *drools*, so of course I have many of the same shade or similar in different brands.. because you just have to own them all.

I headed to the NYX stand in Boots to take a nosey and of course you can’t go in Boots and leave with nothing especially the makeup stands and if your a beauty blogger. I saw their soft matte lip cream sets (£15) and grabbed set 6, in the set you get the shades Copenhagen, Vancouver and Havana. Copenhagen is a deep red shade, Vancouver is a burnt red shade and Havana a purple shade.

img_4771

The lipsticks come in an 8ml bottle which are super handy to cary around in your handbag without taking up too much space, I probably have about 10 different lipsticks in my bag, because I need them all, right?

Each of the shades live up to my expectations, they are soft, creamy, matte and super pigmented. All three shades glide across my lips evenly without pulling or picking up the dry patches with incredible lasting power even when it comes to eating and drinking which is something I always look for when buying a new lipstick. If these couldn’t get any better well, yeah they can.. they even smell of vanilla which reminds me of mini eggs and the smell of mac lipsticks, it is heavenly. I definitely have to grab more shades as i’m well and truly hooked, I need them all!

Cohorted My Little Treat Boxing Day Edition

img_4764

After being absolutely spoilt rotten at Christmas my husband surprised me with an extra present, I had been eyeing up Cohorted’s My Little Treat Boxing Day Edition box since I saw it on their website. I have subscribed to Cohorted before and received their February box so I know this would be amazing as the rest, their Boxing Day box costs £50 which includes a total of eight high end full sized products worth £168.

Whats in the box?

Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette, Cohorted Flat Eyeshadow Brush, Cohorted Domed Eyeshadow Brush, Cohorted Crease Blender Brush, MAC Upward Lash Mascara, Bobbi Brown Illuminating Blush Powder, Bella Pierre Mineral Lipstick  & Smith & Cult Nail Polish

This jam packed Boxing Day edition box included a nice range of different high beauty products which is always good to see and an absolute bargain for £50, you’ve pretty much made your money back from the Urban Decay palette & one Cohorted brush.

Included in the box was the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (£38.50), when it comes to the Naked palettes there is probably a handful of bloggers that do not own one of these beauties, I have been eyeing it up for quite a while now but like most things I never got round to buying it, so i’m so glad it was included in the box. Neutrals are probably my go to eyeshadows, they really compliment my blue eyes so they are definitely in for a treat with 12 gorgeous shades.

Also in the box it includes three of Cohorted’s own makeup brushes (£12 each), i’ve seen a lot of these brushes storming the beauty world in the last few months so i’m excited to give them a whirl, I think they might take a bit of getting used to as they’re a different angle compared to your standard brushes.

Next up is Bobbi Brown Illuminating Blush Powder  – Maui (£28.50) which is a pink coral and honestly beyond stunning *drools* it gives me that gorgeous subtle rosy glow which instantly brightens up my face and leaves me looking slightly less vampy.

What’s a beauty box without a mascara! I’m really excited to try the MAC Lash Mascara – Upward Black (£19) as it claims to be volumising, curling, clump free and lifting which is a big claim to make.

Bella Pierre Mineral Lipstick – Envy (£15.99) was included in the box, In my opinion a girl can never own too many lipsticks, well that’s what I like to tell myself.  I swear I have so many different brands all in the same shade but of course I have to have them all.  The shade envy that was included isn’t really a shade that I would go for but it might look quite nice in the summer as it is a nude shade.

Last but not least I’m a sucker for nail polish, I always feel naked without any on but then as soon as I wash up it just chips away leaving them looking ugly so I’m excited to try Smith & Cult Nail Polish – Regret The Moon (£19). It’s actually the first time I’ve heard of this brand but the shade is subtle and stunning perfect for any jobs that don’t really like you wearing obvious makeup & nail varnish.

Sleek Makeup Box of Tricks Ultimate Makeup Haul

sleek1

My husband is always supportive with my blog and he kindly treated to the Sleek Makeup Box of Tricks  Ultimate Makeup Haul, Boots had an offer I really could not refuse with the set being £25 instead of £45 absolute bargain! I have only ever used a couple of Sleek’s products before but I have never been disappointed.

img_4253

The box contains 9 Sleek products with a mixture of face, eye and lip products.. what more could you need!?

Vintage Romance I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette, Face Contour Kit In Medium, Lip Vip Lipstick In Guest List, Twist Up Midnight, Eyebrow Stylist In Medium, Solstice Highlighting Palette, Matte Me In Shabby Chic, Full Fat Lash Mascara and Blush By 3 In Lace.

img_4265

Vintage Romance I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette

img_4257

This palette contains 12 glam eye shadows which are perfect for any party look with a variety of cooler and warmer shades, my favourite has to be Lust in LA. Each eyeshadow is pigmented and easily blended bar a few which take a little more blending than others. The palette also contains a nice sized mirror which is brilliant for travelling or if your like me and your mirror is broke *sad face*.

Face Contour Kit – Medium

img_4258

I have never been interested or used a contour kit before but thought that I would give it a whirl seeing that it was in the pack. The kit comes in the shade medium with a powder and highlighter which is the perfect duo for those contour lovers. I’m unable to give a comment to this because like I say I’ve never contoured before, but the powder is really pigmented so I have made a few muddy mistakes *covers eyes* maybe with bit more of a lighter touch might help.

VIP Lipstick – Guest List

Sleek’s VIP lipstick is a creamy highly pigmented vibrant red, which glides across your lips without pulling or picking up those pesky dry patches, it is really moisturising.

img_4262

Twist Up Eye Pencil – Midnight

img_4259

I tend to use liquid eyeliners and not to use pencil eyeliners because they always smudge but this is perfect for the bottom last line it’s creamy and easily blended leaving a perfect smokey look.

Eyebrow Stylist – Medium

img_4260

This eyebrow pen has two sides, one with a little spoolie and the other pencil which is the ultimate travel handy accessory, there’s no messing around with powders, brow gels and angled brushes it’s all in one. Perfect. The pencil comes in the shade medium which is a warm brown tone. I usually struggle with pencils due to my eyebrows being sparse and sometimes slightly out of shape, so I tend to go a bit crazy and over-do them compared to using an angled brush where I tend to get cleaner lines but this one is super simple to use and no hassle at all.

Solstice Highlighting Palete

img_4256

As well as contouring I have never really used highlighted before but this solstice highlighting palette is literally the bees knees! This palette includes two baked powders, one luxurious cream formula and one silky shimmer powder in the shades hemisphere, equinox, subsolar and ecliptic.

I kept getting paranoid about using it, I mean hemisphere is a purple shade, surely it would turn my cheeks purple? In fact it doesn’t, it is absolutely stunning and it gives my face that little bit of a subtle glow which is definitely needed sometimes due to having pale skin and tending to lean towards the more matte foundations.

Matte Me – Shabby Chic

img_4263

i’ve tried Sleek’s matte me liquid lipsticks before (post soon to follow) and I can say they are incredible, they glide on and don’t stick to the dry patches on my lips and last for hours on end. Honestly they are probably one of the best lipsticks i’ve ever used. Shabby Chic is a pinkish shade which i’m not too keen on, i’m not really a pink lipstick kind of person but more so deeper reds and purples but it’s still awesome regardless.

Full Fat Lash Mascara

img_4261

I have the smallest lashes ever but Sleek’s full fat lash mascara’s bristles work wonders for separating and making my lashes look fuller without them clumping together.

Blush By 3 – Lace

img_4254

I am obsessed with using blush to give me that extra bit of colour, it works wonders especially this mini palette, it contains three gorgeous shades Crochet, Guipure and Chantilly.

Urban Decay Mini Haul

URBAN.jpg

Being a beauty blogger makeup is forever on my to buy list especially when it comes to Urban Decay, their product range is gorgeous and i’m never left disappointed. I went to Debenhams a couple of weeks ago and strolled past the Ubran Decay counter and spotted that they had their Shadow Box palette for around £16 instead of their usual price of £23, obviously it went straight in my basket, there’s no doubt about that.. i’d be a fool not to.

This beautiful palette has 12 incredibly beautiful and buttery shades, all 12 of them are super pigmented, creamy and blendable. As of late I have been wearing smog, lost and baked cowboy constantly, it is definitely a perfect autumn look.

Shades: Sin, Indo, Bordello, Tornado, Smog, Blackout, Flash, Mushroom, Lost, Freelove, Moonshadow and Baked Cowboy.

What I love about this palette it that it is just the perfect size for travelling, it’s handy for when your out and about so you can pop it into your handbag or makeup bag without it taking up a lot of space, it also has a nice sized mirror so your able to do that perfect smokey eye look on the go.. perfect right?

I also picked up one of Urban Decay’s Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick in the shade Disturbed (£15), fortunately for myself I really do not need any more lipsticks in this type of shade but you know what? I couldn’t help myself, I am well and truly obsessed as all you lipstick lovers will understand.. I feel so bare without any lipstick on. Even though this is a matte lipstick unlike some brands it glides across my lips without feeling dry or picking up those pesky dry areas, *curse having super dry and chapped lips in winter* leaving a bold and super pigmented statement lip behind. I honestly cannot recommend this shade enough for an autumn/winter look or even those who feel like that want something a little bit more dramatic than pink shades.

What is on your Urban Decay wish list?

H&M Wish List

I am absolutely obsessed with H&M I want everything when I go in store and they’re always reasonably priced, these are definitely the times that I wish money grew on trees. Though I always find myself disappointed in their sizes especially when it comes to jeans, they only go up to a size 16 and I can’t even squeeze my thighs into them which doesn’t give you a boost of confidence but the t-shirts, jumpers etc are absolutely fine.

Long cardigan £14.99, Oversized jumper £14.99, Pom pom hat £7.99, Short lace dress £29.99, Pj leggings set £14.99, Glittery blanket £29.99, Small glass plant pot £7.99, Kids patterned duvet set £14.99Scented candle in glass jar £0.99, Eyeshadow palette £9.99 , Eyeshadow palette £9.99, Ankle boots £29.99,Wool-blend bouclé coat £39.99

This wish list is full of cosy wear and home bits ready for winter,  my absolute favourite of the bunch is the short lace dress which would be perfect for any upcoming Christmas and New Year parties.

What’s on your wish lists?
