Make your living room inviting with Photowall

Hello again ladies & gents

It’s been quite a while since I published a post and if you’ve read my ‘life lately’ post then you will know that my life is pretty hectic. If you missed it, I’m currently doing my masters in forensic psychology, working full time and learning to drive. Pretty full on I guess but I don’t do things in halves!

So here goes, a new post for you to feast your eyes on. Grab a cup of tea and your all set to read on.

Photo Wall “are a Swedish company with a passion for design and quality. Our wall murals and canvas prints are environmentally friendly, fire-retardant in accordance with Swedish standards and do not fade in sunlight. All our motifs are selected with care.”

With every purchase made through Photo Wall they support Vi Agroforestry and plant 5,000 trees a year around Lake Victoria, Eastern Africa to help fight poverty, improve the environment and combat climate change.

I was lucky to have the opportunity to have a custom canvas* made by Photo Wall, so I began on my hunt for the perfect picture! I flicked through hundreds of pictures and narrowed it down to a couple finally selecting one of my daughter, it’s simple.. yet beautiful.

I have to admit when the print arrived I was slightly confused as it came un-stretched but after reading the provided instructions it’s so easy to assemble.

Just lay your canvas print on a flat surface and position your wooden frames in place removing the 3M tape and fix them into place. Once you’ve positioned the four frames just fold them all into the canvas, bracket them into place with the screws provided and ta-da you’ve got yourself a stretched canvas!

I opted for a 43.31″ x 23.62″ sized canvas for my living room feature wall (£94)*, which is pretty big I must admit but I don’t think any other size would do it justice. Before receiving the canvas I was worrying over how the image quality would be slightly distorted due to the size of the canvas but Photo Wall exceeded my expectations, it’s incredible. So clean and crisp. Just perfect.

I honestly can not recommend Photo Wall enough if your looking for something new for your living room, a gift or just a memory. I’ve found myself wanting more of their products and eyeing up their wall murals for the bedroom because honestly there is some incredible prints.. you won’t be disappointed.

Children’s Christmas Eve Box

xmaseve1 xmaseve2

My husband stumbled upon a Christmas Eve box for children last year filled with all sorts of goodies that your baby/toddler/child can open on Christmas Eve to get into the Christmas spirit and in my opinion it’s a bloody good idea. We did one last year but because Scarlett was only 9 months at the time she was a little young for it, though non the less she enjoyed watching The Snowman in some gorgeous thumper pjs in the middle of a chaotic house move, yes we did move on Boxing Day! eek.

So, we want to make it a tradition that every year she has a little special box that the elves bring her before heading off to santa to get her presents ready for the morning! I think i’m more excited than she is to be honest.

What’s in the box?

The Grinch DVD (£3, ASDA)

Frozen Colouring Book (£3, The Entertainer Shop)

Bic Pencil Crayons (£1.50, Wilkinsons)

Fleece Pjs (£6.99, ASDA)

Thorntons Snowman Chocolate (£2, ASDA)

It doesn’t have to burn a hole into your pocket and cost the earth and you can tailor it to what you like!

What do you think?

H&M Toddler Mini Haul

hm coat

I never need an excuse to spend money on my little one, I am forever wanting things for her as there is just too many cute things out there! I headed to Manchester with her yesterday as I got to spend my Selfridges competition voucher, we had such a lovely lunch together and then headed to H&M, my all time favourite for super cute clothes.

I wanted to get Scarlett a lovely little winter coat as the past few days it’s been really nippy and of course now were in autumn winter is creeping up on us. I found this absolutely gorgeous double breasted beige coat for her (£19.99) which has embroidered pockets and little cute ears on the hood. I tried this on her and she looks incredibly adorable, I wouldn’t mind one myself to be honest.

For just under £20 the quality of this coat is incredible, it is really nice and warm which will keep her really toasty in the colder months, to be honest it is just all round perfect. I am gutted though, they only do the sizes up to 1 1/2 to 2 years so I can’t buy her the next size up for when she has grown out of it!

In terms of accessories I grabbed two headbands for her, the fluffy ear ones (£2.50) and the star headband (£1.99), her collection is forever expanding. I also grabbed her a super cute teddy, a ballerina bunny (£6.99) in my opinion a girl can never have enough teddies especially if they are as cute as this! it was a little gift from her lovely nanny as she wanted us to buy something special for her, so we definitely fulfilled that order.

I also grabbed her a little cute long sleeved purple spotted dress (£5.99), Scarlett really suits the colour purple and dresses in general, she just looks good enough to eat in them! I think even though this is size 1 1/2 to 2 years we will get a little longer out of it due to the material being stretchy which is a bonus for any mum!

Toucan Box

I have been on the hunt for a monthly activity box for Scarlett as a little treat for her and stumbled upon Toucan Box, scrolling through their website it looked pretty interesting so I looked around further. You are able to purchase three different types of boxes depending on your preference and price range which I think is a great idea.

Petite one activity (£3.95 + £0.98 postage)
Grande two activities and a book (£9.95 + £2.95 postage)
Super four activities and a book (£16.95 + £2.95 postage)

Petite delivers every two weeks, grande and super every month. Each box comes packed with loads of goodies and instructions on how to make an amazing project, pretty cool huh? In this months box Scarlett got some little medieval finger puppets, crayons, felt, ribbon, jewels and an instruction book. This months box will allow her to make a jewelled crown and some finger puppets which I hope will keep us both entertained for quite some time, as she is 1 1/2 she will need some assistance with her little box as it is aimed at those aged 3-8 (also advised on the website).

One big deal for me is that it fits through your letter box, HURRAH! It is a little tedious when parcels come for you and your not in – I know the simple things! so this is convenient and perfect in my opinion. I know that you can easily get the items yourself but I think it is so much nicer for them to have their own little parcel, it’s even addressed to them!

Baby Dam

A couple of weeks ago I entered Baby Dam‘s recent competition SmileForEaster with a photo of my little lady and I was lucky enough to win. If your wondering what a Baby Dam is then you need to because it’s a life changer for your little one, it basically “turns your family bath into your baby’s” where you are able to modify it to your growing little one. The Baby Dam will allow you to save both money and water as you are able to fill your bath to the required section.

Our Baby Dam (£29.99) arrived, it was basically a flexible piece of plastic that was suction making it able to bend and attach to your bath, I was so excited for bath time with my little lady. At first it was a little hard to adjust to, I did have to reapply it several times as I had found it didn’t suck to the bath properly so water was just leaking out of the bottom but I managed to get the hang of it. I was able to section the bath off to what I desired for my little girl, saving around half of the bath water I would have usually put in and time taken to fill the bath up. My little girl really loved it, her bath toys didn’t float away and she did quite enjoy chucking them over the Dam thinking it was a little game. I cannot recommend this product enough to other parents, it has literally changed our bath times, even better for those who’s curious little children keep going near the taps, this has managed to keep my little lady away from them.

Overall, I absolutely love this product, it saves both time, water and makes bath time fun.

Scarlett’s First Birthday

Just over a year ago I was in labour with my little girl which you can see the post here. My little lady baby was put into my arms and I became a mummy for the first time, I was so totally in love. Throughout that year we have watched her grow and achieve so many milestones.

I can’t get over how much babies learn, it is incredible how they develop into their own little person. She is so clever and has learnt so many skills throughout the year. Scarlett now can say words such as “mum”, “ma”, “mumma”, “dad”, “ada” “da”, “nana” and “yeah”, I really cannot express how amazing it is to hear your child say mum or dad for the first time, I was on the verge of tears.

She has also learnt so many other things such as to clap her hands and wave when you say “hi” and “bye” to her. Scarlett is also incredibly good at passing you things when you say “ta”.  Scarlett is now a confident crawler going from army crawling to crawling using her hands and knees, she always loves to walk by holding onto our hands as she is not completely confident yet, I don’t blame her it must be so scary learning to walk for the first time.

I was looking up how many teeth a child should have because I was absolutely clueless and there are 20 in total. Scarlett began teething around 5 months old, she is now 13 months and has 12 teeth, yes 12! they are literally coming through one after another with 4 through within a month.

So her first birthday was approaching and I had no idea what to do for it, because I have never done this before. I invited a couple of close friends who had kids to a small birthday party with a bit of food and of course CAKE!

The night before I was like a little kid at Christmas, I was probably more excited than she was. My partner started to make a 6 tier rainbow birthday cake for Scarlett at around 7pm taking a total of 5 hours from start to finish, but I must admit I was thoroughly impressed and it went down an absolute treat.

The day after, Scarlett’s first birthday typically she woke up at 6:30 as usual and we couldn’t resist going downstairs all excited to see her open her presents. She absolutely loved opening her presents but needed a little help to rip them open, she did get quite bored at the end so I had to open quite a few of them.

Visitors arrived, I was really nervous as I have never done a birthday party before, but there was plenty of balloons, food, music and cake so everyone was happy enough to just have a little dance and run around. Scarlett absolutely loved all the little kinds, and I can safely say she had a great day

I really couldn’t imagine life without her, it is like she has always been with us.sig2

Scarlett’s Outfit Of The Day

I really need to get into blogging more about my little lady, but unfortunately I never know what to write about (sad face). After reading The Dad Network’s blog and seeing a post on what outfits his son Ted is wearing I thought that it was a great idea so I have decided to start my own little series based around this.

When it comes to buying clothes for my little lady it is safe to say I literally go wild, I can’t help myself! She literally has more clothes than I do. I do have a weak spot for dresses for both myself and Scarlett, there is nothing sweeter than seeing her in a little dress, leggings and a headband she looks absolutely gorgeous.

So, today Scarlett wore some of her new clothes that she had bought for her for her 1st birthday. Throughout the day she wore a 3 piece dress set from ASDA (£12) bought by her Granddad, this features a floral cord dress with a beautiful yet simple pink top to go underneath and a pair of white tights. She also wore some super cute soft cotton mouse pjs from Mothercare (£14 2 Pack) also bought for her birthday after her LUSH bubble bath making her skin super smooth.

What do you think of this series?

Scarlett’s Park and Museum Trip

A couple of weeks ago me and my partner took our little lady to our local park which also has a museum, so we headed over to the park for a little play on the swings which she absolutely loves and never wants to get off! We then we strolled down to the museum.

When we got there entry was free which is always a good thing if you do not have much cash spare. They had a gorgeous cafe which was decorated with art prints throughout two large sized rooms so you can grab a coffee and food before or after looking around the building. You are also greeted with a large stone hallway decorated with Victorian paintings throughout which leads off into a number of rooms, including a Victorian style room, taxidermy, art gallery, vintage and war memorabilia.

When we went into the Victorian style room it was dull lit with deep red walls and drapes, considering how dark the room was you could still make out the detail in the furniture and the wallpaper design. As mentioned there was also a taxidermy exhibition, I am a little creeped out by taxidermy but I do think it’s really cool how they can preserve the animal to it’s original form. Upstairs is an art gallery exhibition which is filled with art work from local artists ranging from paintings to drawings, I am a huge fan of art work so this was especially nice to visit due to all the artists being locally sourced. Also upstairs was a room filled with from local history such as old police uniforms and accessories, vintage national rail memorabilia and also a incediary bomb.

I really want to take Scarlett to more of these things, I think the next stop is the Manchester Police museum.

Seascape Les Petits Body Lotion

seascape *Seascape Les Petits Body Lotion (RRP £12)

If you have not heard of Seascape before then they are a skincare company and currently do a range called ‘Les Petits’ which are dermatologically tested and gently formulated for babies and children with sensitive skin. Seascape have formulated the products so that they are mild enough for everyday use.

I was kindly sent this *Seascape ‘Les Petits’ Body Lotion to review by Aqua PRFirstly I must comment on how gorgeous the packaging is, it is a box made of heavy 300gsm matte laminated card stock with the interior layered with flowers. The box has beautiful detail of embossed flowers which really creates the feel of luxury.

The body lotion comes in a pump-able bottle which seriously makes life so much easier and less messy when babies/children are involved. I have found that this moisturiser only needs 1-2 pumps to moisturise my little girls skin so a little really does go a long way in this case. The formula is created using 100% natural essential oils of Lavender and Chamomile which soothes and calms your babies skin, Shea Butter and Olive Oil are also packed into this moisturiser to naturally moisturise your babies/child’s skin, finally Jersey Beeswax is included in to lock in moisture and protect their delicate skin.

Since Scarlett has started crawling I have noticed quite a lot of dry skin on her knees and legs, I have been using this moisturiser on her for the past couple of weeks and it has definitely made a difference, her skin is so silky smooth and smells great too. I tend to use this moisturiser mainly after bath time and bed time, I believe that as Lavender is an ingredient used in this moisturiser it tends to make her sleep a little better.

Overall, I cannot recommend this Seascape moisturiser enough to other mummies and daddies, it has made a difference to my daughters skin and it’s natural too! what more could you want.

Have you tried any of the ‘Les Petits’ range before?
