Celebrate Father’s Day with Baker Days & Competition

When it comes to buying gifts for people I absolutely suck at it, with most of my family members I find it impossible to buy for so any sites that make gift buying easier i’m all for it. So if you struggle to find gifts like I do then you have to get yourself over to baker days.

The baker days website is really easy to navigate, you can choose between cakes and cupcakes allowing you to have a pre-made design or why not personalise it. The cakes allow you to choose from a variety of options whether it would be a letter box cake or a large cake and a variety of cake fillings giving you lots of options for your delicious sweet gift. The letter box cakes range from £14.99 to £17.99 depending on what you have chosen for your filling.

So once you’ve chosen your cake size, sponge type, design and personalised your special gift if you wish your ready to go. If you’ve ordered before 2pm then you’ll have your cake next working day!

All of baker days letterbox cakes are around 5″ and sent in a gift tin allowing your special gift to arrive in perfect condition and keeping it fresh for up to 14 days. The cakes come complete with candles and balloons, and their large cakes come with a beautiful cake slicer, it really does add a special touch to a cake delivery service.

I opted for the rich chocolate chip sponge, but you can choose from lovely lemon drizzle, traditional sponge, fabulous fruit, dairy free sponge and gluten wheat free sponge. I was a little optimistic about the sponge remaining moist but the sponge was full of flavour and not the slightest bit dry remaining in tip top condition, literally dent free thanks to the little cute tin cake it comes in. I’d say that the letter box cake gives you around 4-5 servings depending on how big you like your slices, to be honest I could probably polish off a full one *hides*.

The price of the cake does seem pretty much on the steep side, but honestly it’s worth it especially if it is a gift for a loved one.

Love the sound of a letter box cake? well why not treat your Dad this Father’s Day by entering my competition below to win your own!

Kat Von D | Beauty Haul & Giveaway

Since watching LA & Miami Ink I have forever been obsessed with Kat Von D, who isn’t?! So when I saw that she was bringing her own beauty range out I was so excited BUT there as a down side, I would have to order from America which comes with customs fees so when Debenhams announced last year that they would have Kat Von D’s range online exclusive to them my dreams had come true.

With my birthday approaching next weekend my husband said that he would get me a couple of bits from Kat Von D *dances* I was over the moon. Scrolling through Debenhams website again for the millionth time after previously eyeing up what I wanted I grabbed the Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette £37, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick £17 and Lock It Foundation £27.

Being pale is always a problem when your looking for foundations on the high street as most of them for me are warmer tones so they have an orange tone to them, I tend to have to lighten them or look for high end makeup brands. With that in mind I picked up the Lock It Tattoo foundation in the shade 41 neutral, which is her lightest shade and looked like the colour would match my skin tone online.

I was so excited to try this out as i’ve heard great things about it especially after reading Caitlin’s post ‘The Base That Will Not Budge’ over at Through The Mirror, Kat claims that “Lock-It’ foundation is the only long-wear liquid formula we can count on to create a perfect canvas. With one pump it will even out discolouration, stop shine and hide blemishes, offering amazing coverage that’s so long-wear you can go a full 24 hours without re-applying.” sounds like the perfect foundation right?!

I blended the foundation onto my skin using my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and honestly it’s practically a shade from white, the foundation is incredibly pale and far too pale for me which NEVER happens! I looked drained and ghostly. Once fully blended into my skin after 1 pump the coverage was about medium I would say, even though it claims to be full coverage, I could still see redness from spots so a second coat might be better. The foundation sank into my pours clogging them rather than covering over them and didn’t really live up to my expectations, which I was gutted about, I don’t think it was the right foundation for me. On a positive note though I do absolutely love her packaging, the plastic container is a nice touch making it handbag friendly!

Another absolutely beautifully packaged item from the Kat Von D beauty range I picked up was the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Exorcism which is a beautiful deep purple. I absolutely adore my dark lipsticks, it’s pretty much all I wear now a days, so this was definitely a must into my basket. The lipstick glides across my lips with a doe foot applicator without any pulling, the formula is really creamy drying matte in seconds! What I love most about this liquid lipstick is that it is SUPER pigmented, only one swipe is needed across your lips for an intense colour which last all day long without highlighting any dry patches. I definitely need to get my hands on more shades, especially the shade Woolfe.

Head to the end of the post to enter the giveaway to win your own Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in your choice of shade!

Lastly I picked up the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette which i’ve been lusting over forever and possibly the main reason for the order. The palette is a hard cardboard base as opposed to the usual hard plastic containers eyeshadows are usually in, I was quite worried as I thought it would get ruined but the case is super sturdy and has a magnetic lid protecting those beautiful eyeshadows.  The palette consists of twelve matte shades which include neutral, warm and cool shades split into three quads consisting of base, contour, define and highlight shades.

Neutral Shades: Laetus, Samael, Solas and Lucious

Cool Shades: Lazarus, Saleos, Shax and Liberatus

Warm Shades: Ludwin, Succubus, Sytry and Latinus

The palette comes with a little leaflet on how you could transfer your eyes through the art of contouring which I find super handy because i’m absolutely useless when it comes to using eyeshadows, so it’s a great palette for beginners.

Each of the twelve shades allow you to create both day and night looks in one palette *dances* with each blending beautifully with their buttery formula and super pigmented powder giving you those dramatic eyes you’ve been lusting over. I would definitely recommend this palette to all you beauty addicts, it’s a must have in my eyes.

As a huge thank you for reaching 1k followers over on my Twitter I am hosting a giveaway that you can enter below to win your own Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick of choice!

Fragrance Direct Spring Perfumes

A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to win 2 perfumes of my choice from the Fragrance Direct spring fragrance competition. As soon as I watched the competition video and entered I knew what 2 I was going to choose, I decided to go for the Chloe Love Story and Dolce and Gabbana Floral Drops.

“Fragrance Direct sells branded, discounted perfumes, aftershaves, cosmetics, hair care, skincare and beauty products. Our success is due to our ability to offer products at great prices, whilst still concentrating on a high level of service. Involved in direct sales since 1993 Fragrance Direct has always taken the product to the customer rather than the customer having to go from shop to shop to find their fragrances at the best price. We are able to offer highly competitive prices. This is done by keeping overheads low. There is no shop, no middlemen as we supply our products directly to the customer.”

I received the 75ml of Dolce and Gabbana Floral Drops Eau de Toilette (£54.99) which derives from the Eau de Parfume with the addition of papaya flower and fresh neroli scents. The spray moves into a heart of water lilly, naricissus and amaryllis closing with base notes of sandalwood, cashmere and musk. I love how light and subtle this spray is, I would definitely say this is a must for those who love spring scented perfumes. The spray is long lasting leaving a gorgeous subtle flowery scent lingering on your clothes throughout the day. Last but not least, the bottle is absolutely stunning with gorgeous light green thick frosted glass and an additional ceramic flower lid to add the finishing touches.

I also received the 50ml Chloe Love Story Eau de Parfume (£54.99), soon as I saw the bottle of this perfume I knew this was definitely a must. The bottle is designed to represent padlocks which are left by couples on the famous bridge of the Ponts des Arts in Paris. This spring fragrance opens with notes of orange blossom and white floral accords, transitioning into a heart of Madagascan Jasmine and Neroli finishing with a base of cedar wood and musk. In my opinion this fragrance is quite similar to the Dolce and Gabbana floral drops so if you like that then you may love this and vice versa.

I am not really one to stray away from my favourite perfumes but I would definitely recommend that you should try these out or buy them if you love spring/summer scents.

Too Faced | ‘à la mode’ Palette | MissMakeupMagpie Competition

Too Faced ‘à la mode’  (RRP $36)

“Ooh la la! Capture a summer sunset in St. Tropez with coral, golden pink and fiery copper hues. Indulge in nine sexy shadows that play well together day and night or look fantastic alone to create bright, fresh eyes a la mode.”

I entered Gemma’s (Miss Makeup Magpie) Instagram competition quite a while ago to win this awesome Two Faced ‘à la mode’ palette and won, I could not believe it.. it was a lovely notification to wake up to.

When I received the package I was amazed at the quality of the packaging it was simply amazing and such an expensive feel to it. The product came in a thick matte cardboard box which was designed like the front of the palette. The palette also comes with step-by-step instructions which are handily attached to the mirror that include some of Too Faced’s signature how-to Glamour Gide with three looks for you to experiment with.

I always loved a rich pigmented palette as they tend to last a lot longer on your eyes throughout the day and this palette definitely is that, i’ve mainly used ‘St. Tropez’ and ‘La Crosisette’ and they have lasted throughout the day whilst running around doing errands and my little lady. They are super blendable due to their silky smooth formula which blends effortlessly for an airbrushed effect which is always great when looking for eyeshadows as they don’t look patchy. I am totally in love with this palette and would definitely recommend it to people for those summer months.

Have you used this palette before? What did you think? I would love to know.
