Baking | Pancake Day Recipe

With my never ending obsession with sweet stuff each year I look forward to Pancake Day, with this month feeling like it’s flown by it feels like it’s come around a lot quicker *yay*. I never feel like crepe pancakes are enough unless it’s a stack of about 10.. yes I know i’m a greedy chops, so american pancakes are always my favourite. I grabbed the recipe off BBC Good Food which is pretty fool proof so anyone should be able to make these.

pancakes

Ingredients

135g/4¾oz plain flour, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt, 2 tbsp caster sugar, 130ml/4½fl oz milk, 1 large egg, lightly beaten, 2 tbsp melted butter (allowed to cool slightly) or olive oil, plus extra for cooking & choice of toppings.

Method

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar into a large bowl. In a separate bowl or jug, lightly whisk together the milk and egg, then whisk in the melted butter.

  2. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and, using a fork, beat until you have a smooth batter. Any lumps will soon disappear with a little mixing. Let the batter stand for a few minutes.

  3. Heat a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat and add a knob of butter. When it’s melted, add a ladle of batter (or two if your frying pan is big enough to cook two pancakes at the same time). It will seem very thick but this is how it should be. Wait until the top of the pancake begins to bubble, then turn it over and cook until both sides are golden brown and the pancake has risen to about 1cm (½in) thick.

  4. Repeat until all the batter is used up. You can keep the pancakes warm in a low oven, but they taste best fresh out the pan.

  5. Serve with toppings.

Pre Christmas Haul

H&M Galaxy Pj & Leggings Set £14.99

When it comes to H&M clothing I just can’t say no unless I can’t squeeze myself into them then that’s a different story, pyjamas to me are essential at Christmas time or any time for that matter, personally I always request them every year as a present from my Husband. To me there is nothing better than getting into fresh bedding with brand new pjs on!

These galaxy cuffed jersey pjs are super comfortable and stretchy, I tend to go for the cuffed leg pjs as they stay in place at night instead of riding up your leg in turn making you uncomfortable and dancing around the bed.

H&M Grey Chunky Knit Jumper £24.99

I am forever obsessing with chunky knit jumpers they just look that little bit more cosier with the colder months, so this one was a no brainer especially as it is from H&M too. This jumper looks great with some high waisted jeans and little black ankle boots.

New Look Burgundy Boucle Textured Longline Cardigan £24.99

This chunky thick burgundy cardigan is perfect for winter, it comes just above the knee and looks great with a little black t-shirt or long sleeved. The cardigan has little flecks of holographic threads which gives it that snowy and Christmassy feel.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick £15

I am absolutely obsessed with lipsticks at the moment I feel quite bare when i’m not wearing any, especially when it comes to the deeper berry wintery shades. This lipstick is part of their comfort matte range in the shade Disturbed which is like a burnt burgundy. If you don’t like red lipstick then this might be for you, it’s deeper and darker which is perfect for both subtle eye makeup and a smokey eye look.

Kiko Skin Modernist 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer £18.90

I was in desperate need for some new foundation and have heart great things about Kiko Cosmetics so I grabbed this 2-in-1 foundation and concealer in the shade warm rose. The foundation comes with a doe foot applicator which is something different from what i’ve used before. This foundation claims to give a flawless natural satin look which lasts all day long so i’m excited to test it out.

Waterstones Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Book £8.49

I don’t tend to read a lot of books but I would love to so where better to start than Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, it is definitely on the list of things to do in the New Year. The book is beautifully presented with a gorgeous royal blue and gold cover giving it that magical feeling.

Bridesmaid Dresses For Every Body Shape

Wedding season is upon us and with my wedding creeping up in October I think that this post is ideal. Coast have recently provided an info-graphic on how to ensure that your bridesmaids look their best on your wedding day with advice around which dresses to choose to suit their body shape. In my opinion I think that this is really important and it would be for me if I was having bridesmaids at my wedding, I would want to ensure that they look their best and feel comfortable on my big day.

As you may know, Coast have a wide range of clothing on their website particularly dresses for events such as weddings, parties and the races.

As mentioned above they have published a handy body shape chart giving you advice as to what types of clothing to go for to suit your body shape and if your thinking it can’t get better than that then it definitely does, Coast also have all the suggested types of dresses, different necklines and dresses for those who are tall and petite in their store and website making your decisions simple.

Get ready for summer with New Look

newlook

I have always been a huge fan of New Look clothing especially their skater dresses, I could literally spend all day in there. So when I had arranged to have a little early birthday shopping trip I knew one place that I was definitely heading to! I decided to pick up this gorgeous Black Button Front Floral Print Playsuit £19.99.

This is my first ever outfit post, we went up to a local wooded area to take photos of my little girl so I took the opportunity to have my outfit photographed by my partner. This floral playsuit is great for summer, made from woven fabric so it is quite thin making it a great wear for those warmer/hotter months. The floral detail covers the whole of the playsuit with spots of colour throughout which might be one for those who like monotone clothing like me.

I absolutely love the back detail, with four triangles taken out of the material making a cross, it adds a really nice touch to the playsuit. I have found that this goes great with a oversized maroon cardigan, tights and ankle boots.

My Little Box March 2015

My Little Box (RRP £11.00 plus P&P)

For the past couple of months I have been subscribed to Glossybox but I seem to be loosing interest in them so I have decided to do Glossybox as a one off rather than subscription. I have also seen quite a lot of the My Little Box’s over Instagram and must admit they have won me over with their super cute designs and products included in the boxes! If you have not heard of My Little Box before then it is a  “hand-picked and beautifully designed box of fashion, beauty and lifestyle surprises. With accessories, products and other goodies created exclusively for you and based around a different theme every month, each box promises to delight the lucky recipient”

This months box is My Little Superbox which has a gorgeous chic comic box styled box, I am definitely a fan of this. In this months box there is a total of 5 products which range from beauty, fashion and lifestyle worth over £65.

Upon opening the box I was greeted by a lovely branded ribbon and some Super Stickers (£4.00) which have a variety of stickers from super woman outfits to quotes. I do quite like these stickers they are really cute but to be honest they are still sat in the box as I do not know what to do with them. There was also included in the box a t-shirt designed by Gat Rimon and My Little Box  (£29), a gorgeous light grey t-shirt which has “I believe I can Fly” printed on the chest area. This definitely fits in with the theme of the box and I must admit this is definitely my new favourite t-shirt, the only downside is that it is one size! I do tend to like my t-shirts to be a little baggier.

In terms of beauty items that were included in the box was My Little Box’s own makeup brand My Little Beauty, I have always loved this about the box when I have seen pictures of other blogger’s goodies. This month they have included Crayon Lips & Cheeks (14 €), which came in a gorgeous drawstring bag with “My Little Box” and bows all over. The crayon doesn’t actually say what shade it is so I can’t really tell you but it is quite a bright peachy pink but not too in your face. I absolutely love the formula of this, when applied to your hand it is quite chalky making it easier to blend on your cheeks though when applied on your lips it is moisturising but it doesn’t stay put for long whilst eating and drinking.

Also included in the gorgeous drawstring bag was a 75ml tube of Kerastase Lait Crystal Conditioner (£7.50) a generous sample size. This conditioner is aimed at those with dry lengths or ends, so if you have dry hair like me then this conditioner will be perfect for you. I am super excited to try this product out as my hair does tend to dry out really easy, the conditioner is enriched with plant origin extract which leaves your hair looking smoother with a feather light finish. Also included in the box was Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream (£4) this has been my handbag must have, it is incredibly hydrating for my hands making them super soft. I have really dry hands since returning to work after maternity leave, I have to wash them twice as much as I usually do so it really dries them out but this hand cream has worked wonders for them.

Finally the box included a A5 sized magazine which features food recipes, quotes and beauty tips. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this months box it has definitely won me over to subscribe every month.

Scarlett’s Outfit Of The Day

day1

I really need to get into blogging more about my little lady, but unfortunately I never know what to write about (sad face). After reading The Dad Network’s blog and seeing a post on what outfits his son Ted is wearing I thought that it was a great idea so I have decided to start my own little series based around this.

When it comes to buying clothes for my little lady it is safe to say I literally go wild, I can’t help myself! She literally has more clothes than I do. I do have a weak spot for dresses for both myself and Scarlett, there is nothing sweeter than seeing her in a little dress, leggings and a headband she looks absolutely gorgeous.

So, today Scarlett wore some of her new clothes that she had bought for her for her 1st birthday. Throughout the day she wore a 3 piece dress set from ASDA (£12) bought by her Granddad, this features a floral cord dress with a beautiful yet simple pink top to go underneath and a pair of white tights. She also wore some super cute soft cotton mouse pjs from Mothercare (£14 2 Pack) also bought for her birthday after her LUSH bubble bath making her skin super smooth.

What do you think of this series?
