LUSH Cosmetics | Mini Haul

It’s been quite a while since i’ve done a Lush haul, my closest store now is Cardiff which isn’t that far away from where I live but I don’t tend to head that way often so when I was in Cardiff last week I HAD to go in store.

I’ve been wanting to pick up Sleepy which is one of Lush’s recent new products for quite some time but I was holding out until I could try it first hand. There’s been a lot of attention on this especially from mums saying how it’s worked wonders with helping their kids sleep so I grabbed a sample of it in store and loved it so I went ahead and purchased the 95g pot (£7.95).

Sleepy has a gentle oatmeal infusion, calming lavender flower and sweet tonka absolute, it smells pretty incredible! I’m not quite sure whether it makes the little one sleep better as she’s always been a pretty good sleeper anyway and always has anything between 10-12 hours a night but it does make her skin incredibly soft and leaves her smelling amazing.

I also grabbed the Lord of Misrule shower cream 250g (£10.75) which I tend to try and grab every year, it’s just a must have in my bathroom and I also grabbed the Lord of Misrule bath bomb (£3.95). Lord of Misrule has a herbal blend of patchouli, peppercorn and black pepper with an intriguing vanilla absolute sweetness, again with most Lush things it smells pretty darn incredible with the scent lingering on your skin hours after.

Lastly I grabbed the Secret Arts jelly bomb (£4.95), i’m a huge fan of anything spooky and Harry Potter so this is perfect! Secret Arts has cinnamon leaf oil, Brazilian orange oil and sweet almond essential oil. I’ve not yet tried this one i’m saving it for one of those much needed pamper days but the sound of cinnamon leaf oil is perfect for these colder nights.

My New Blogging Photo Set Up |

I am so jealous of those with beautiful laminate flooring, I have forever lusted over a grey washed laminate floor for my front room, as you will know I have a HUGE obsession with grey and recently painted my front room feature wall Mineral Stone Grey. Unfortunately with renting a house there isn’t a lot you can do to it, well I say that I bet some landlords will let you change the flooring but in the end it will only benefit them in the long run.

I have seen various bloggers photography and they usually have the marble worktop or gorgeous flooring featuring in their photos, I usually take my photos on my grey IKEA fluffy rug but it’s not quite cutting it anymore, after reading a blog post a while a go which I can’t for the life of me remember who it was, I saw that you can create that look with literally less than £20, you can do it with wallpaper, vinyl & laminate samples. I headed to B&Q and had a look at their laminate flooring, I saw their Berkeley Effect Antique Finish Laminate which is beyond stunning and picked up 6 samples of that costing £12, £2 each which is equivalent to a drugstore foundation. My husband glued and attached them to some MDF to make it a little stronger, awaiting it to be cut down to size but it is honestly the perfect size for blog photos and barely cost a thing, grab some fresh/fake flowers and there you have it, a nice little set up for more professional looking photos. Step aside crappy blog photos there’s some new boys in town.

Urban Decay Mini Haul

URBAN.jpg

Being a beauty blogger makeup is forever on my to buy list especially when it comes to Urban Decay, their product range is gorgeous and i’m never left disappointed. I went to Debenhams a couple of weeks ago and strolled past the Ubran Decay counter and spotted that they had their Shadow Box palette for around £16 instead of their usual price of £23, obviously it went straight in my basket, there’s no doubt about that.. i’d be a fool not to.

This beautiful palette has 12 incredibly beautiful and buttery shades, all 12 of them are super pigmented, creamy and blendable. As of late I have been wearing smog, lost and baked cowboy constantly, it is definitely a perfect autumn look.

Shades: Sin, Indo, Bordello, Tornado, Smog, Blackout, Flash, Mushroom, Lost, Freelove, Moonshadow and Baked Cowboy.

What I love about this palette it that it is just the perfect size for travelling, it’s handy for when your out and about so you can pop it into your handbag or makeup bag without it taking up a lot of space, it also has a nice sized mirror so your able to do that perfect smokey eye look on the go.. perfect right?

I also picked up one of Urban Decay’s Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick in the shade Disturbed (£15), fortunately for myself I really do not need any more lipsticks in this type of shade but you know what? I couldn’t help myself, I am well and truly obsessed as all you lipstick lovers will understand.. I feel so bare without any lipstick on. Even though this is a matte lipstick unlike some brands it glides across my lips without feeling dry or picking up those pesky dry areas, *curse having super dry and chapped lips in winter* leaving a bold and super pigmented statement lip behind. I honestly cannot recommend this shade enough for an autumn/winter look or even those who feel like that want something a little bit more dramatic than pink shades.

What is on your Urban Decay wish list?

Groom Trends!

Wedding season is upon us and as you may know if you have read a few of my posts that me and my partner are getting married in October so this posts seems fitting. I must admit I am currently a little obsessed with pinning wedding photos from Pintrest anything from flowers to dresses and suits. With the big day creeping up luckily we have now pretty much got everything sorted and paid for but when it came to dress and suit shopping that was a whole new ball game!

I have never imagined how many different types of suits there was to decide from but there is tonnes of different styles and colours! so if I was struggling then there must be many more feeling the same, right? Fashion Beans have given grooms to be a little helping hand with their infographic on groom trends featuring suits from formal and classic to relaxed and informal styles so a little something for everyone.

groom-infographic

Personally I really like the lounge suits, my partner went for a lovely grey slim fit suit when we was doing our wedding shopping. I really like this infographic and feel like it would be really handy for you guys when on the hunt for a suit whether it be for your own wedding or someone else’s.

C25K Week 2!

screen-shot-2012-01-21-at-23-41-491

As you may know if your a reader of my blog I have recently started a getting fit series where I have started running a couple of days a week using the C25K app on my phone which you can see my first days progress here.

If you haven’t heard of the C25k app then it is a phone app that is downloadable starting anyone who doesn’t run or those who haven’t in quite a while to begin with short bursts of running mixed with increments of walking, as weeks pass running time increases and walking decreases until your able to run 5k.

So as I mentioned I started using this app last week starting on week one which was split into three days, I managed to complete all three days surprisingly no problem, they were hard as I am not used to running but hurrah I managed it and it felt good. Which brings me on week 2 of the app, again this is split into three days as each week is involving a five minute brisk warmup walk, then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of twenty minutes. I was quite surprised how 30 seconds added on would make such a difference as it really doesn’t seem that long.

I must admit I did struggle with those extra 30 seconds and could definitely feel it at the back of my calfs but I managed day one and I am so proud of myself for finally getting out there and doing it. Music is such a HUGE help to me when running as it definitely influences me to keep going those extra few seconds giving me the little push I need and plus it makes it a little more enjoyable.

Is there anything that helps motivate you when it comes to running or any other types of fitness?

Ozeri Pedometer

pedo3

*Ozeri Pedometer (RRP £19.99)

I was kindly send this *Ozeri Pedometer as myself and my partner like to do a lot of walking. Let me just say this is like no other pedometer I have ever used. I used to have one where you could just sit there all day shaking it and it would count as steps. It would even add on 10 just by picking it up and putting in your pocket which means the results were way off. This beauty however has so many features its crazy, here is a little run down:

  • Records daily steps, stairs climbed, distance, calories burned and exercise time with the world’s most advanced Tri-Axis technology.
  • 3D Sensor (X, Y, Z plane detection) provides superior accuracy in any position and unlike conventional pedometers, won’t miss steps.
  • New Steps2Target feature tracks and calculates your steps toward your daily target and graphical displays your progress.
  • Counts up to 1 million steps with built-in memory for 30 days of activity. Also features a Clock, Calendar & Sports Timer and Auto Sleep Mode technology.

Setting this up takes a good 5 minutes as you have to set your height, weight, daily goals, date, time and even length of step which you calculate by measuring the distance of ten steps (to insure accuracy) and dividing by 10 to get average step distance. The thing that really impressed me about this pedometer is that no matter how much you shake it, there will be no steps recored, it starts counting after 10 consistent steps (but still counts those 10) so no false steps and an accurate result.

pedo2

The daily goal can be set at anything you like, the suggested amount is between 10 and 15,000 which works out to be about 1.5 – 2 miles depending on step distance. Its super easy to see how close you are to your goal of the day by looking on the left side of the screen at the little symbol showing your progress.

The great thing about this post is not only do you get to be jealous of my beautiful pedometer, you also get the opportunity to win your own as Ozeri has kindly given me another to give away. All you need to do is enter by clicking the link below and follow the instructions. The giveaway will run from today (8th Dec – 21st Dec) and will be posted after the holidays. GOOD LUCK!

Health Designs

I set up an affiliate program with Health designs (can be seen on my blog sidebar) and was kindly gifted 20$ to spend on Health Designs store which covers a range of products from beauty, health to grocery and pets. I headed straight over to their bath and beauty section of the website which a lot of their items were set at a discounted price and decided to pick up lots of makeup brushes and some exfoliating items.

*Real Techniques Travel Essentials (RRP $18 on sale at $15/£9.77)

Includes 3 full-size brushes + case

Essential foundation brush, multitask brush, domed shadow brush.

Panoramic brush case is a 2-in-1 case + stand

I was excited to purchase these brushes as I have seen many blog posts about them and how great they are so it will be interesting to test for myself and for a fantastic price of £9.77 you really could not pass on that offer. Unfortunately these have not turned up yet as the package had to be separated until they came back in stock as they are flying off the shelves.

Look pixel-perfect even in harsh light

Ultra-plush, synthetic bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free

Extended aluminium handle is light and easy to use

Again another product that I was excited to purchase and at another great price too considering their actual retail price. I love the look of these products as they look and feel so expensive due to their outstanding quality. The tip of the brush feels quite firm but soft so I do not get the feel like they are going to break after a few months of use. Another aspect of this product that I love is that they are 100% cruelty-free which is always a great thing to look for in a brand.

*Ecotools Bath Shower Mitt ($2.99 on sale at $2.53/£1.62)

“The threads extracted from the plant are among the strongest natural fibers in the world. What makes it ideal for use in a bath and shower mit is it’s remarkable composition. It becomes even stronger when wet and it is renowned for it’s ability to retain shape, reduce wrinkling, and add a silky luster to any fabric it is combined with. Furthermore, as the plant can be harvested up to six times a year, it means it is fully sustainable. This use of natural, sustainable materials means not only is your skin getting the greatest care available, but the planet is being cared for at the same time. It is also available in fun colours which will brighten up any bath time.”

I love the feel of this product i’ve found it to not be too rough for your skin allowing it to gently exfoliate which in turn would not leave your body with red marks allover, the product comes in 3 colours, purple, blue and green.

“Reveal your radiant skin with this Dual Sided Body Buff! The natural loofah side gently exfoliates, while the soft side lathers for a smooth cleanse! This two-sided necessity has a convertible strap for extra control during use.”

What I love about these facial buffs is that they come with a little strap for your fingers to slide in making it super easy to keep hold of the buff and exfoliate your face. The product is also quite soft considering it is an exfoliating pad so it is not too harsh on your face, it is also advised that you use the bamboo side of the buff for lathering and the soft cleanse with your facial cleanser to gain optimum results.

“Certified to National Organic Standards our lip balms are based on pure organic oils and beeswax free of petrochemically modified ingredients. Again Unfortunately these have not turned up yet as the package had to be separated until they came back in stock as they are flying off the shelves. Though I am forever getting dry lips so a good lip balm is essential, I thought I would give this product a try as the description sounded great and I love orange and ginger!

LUSH Cosmetics Haul!

I absolutely adore LUSH products I always want one or more of each product in the store. I decided to grab quite a few things when I visited a few weeks ago and have been testing them out since.

10733383_10152338660255974_538241873_n

Mask of Magnaminty 315g (RRP £9.75)

“Easily smoothed over the skin anywhere you like, this mask is made with peppermint oil to stimulate, marigold oil and chlorophyllin to treat the skin; evening primrose seeds and aduki beans to gently exfoliate as you remove it. There’s also mineral rich kaolin to nourish, antibacterial honey, and peppermint oil to stimulate the blood cells just under the surface of your skin to leave it looking bright and refreshed.”

This face and body scrub is amazing, not only does it smell good enough to eat but it makes my skin look and feel great. The first initial impression of the scent of this scrub is that it smelt like mint chocolate which you would think would smell quite sickly and strong after 15 minutes of having it on your face but it doesn’t, it is not overpowering in the slightest. I usually use this in conjunction with ‘Dark Angels’ for what I believe to be the best results for my skin. I’ve noticed that using both it eliminates the dirt and grime from my skin (gross I know), this is evident when I use my Clinique Clarifying Lotion as when I do not use the scrubs you can see that dirt and grime. What is even better about this product is that it is self-preserving, so that it does not need to be stored in the fridge.

This product would definitely be a repurchased item when it is all used up.

Dark Angels Cleanser 100g (RRP £6.75)

“Black sugar and charcoal to exfoliate, and rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse. We also use cold pressed avocado oil and vegetable glycerine to moisturise and soften your skin after all that scrubbing, leaving your skin feeling balanced and fresh. Sandalwood and rosewood oils give a rich, earthy fragrance and have a cooling and antiseptic effect on the skin.”

As stated above I use this cleanser in conjunction with ‘Mask of Manaminty’, again this product is great for my skin. Only a small amount of this is needed I then mix with a small amount of warm water and rub together in between my hands, this is then applied all over my face and gently rub in a circular motion. My skin is left feeling so soft and I can say that it has left it looking less dull and instantly brightened. After using the scrub you would think that your skin looks quite red due to black sugar included in the ingredients but it does not.

Angels on Bare Skin 100g (RRP £6.75)

“Inspired by a mediaeval recipe and topped off with lavender flowers, this contains kaolin to absorb grease and dirt, leaving skin clean and nourished. Lavender oil and rose absolute calm the skin.”

When using this product you mix with a small amount of water, rub around in between your hands forming a paste and then rub into your skin which I usually leave to soak for 5-10 minutes. This does exactly what it says it will, I have found with some face cleansers you put it on and then wash it off when you need to and feel like it has not really done anything for my skin but this is a different story, it feels like it has throughly cleansed my skin. This product also helps in toning and brighting your skin.

Whoosh Shower Jelly 100g (£3.50)

“Its zingy fragrance and slinky feel will blast away fatigue, especially if you chill this jelly in the fridge or freezer beforehand. We’ve mixed seaweed, fresh citrus juices, rosemary and geranium oils into this pot.”

I really like this product it leaves your body feeling refreshed and awake, I have yet to try this product after it being in the fridge or the freezer. The only downside to it with being a jelly it is quite slippery and I end up dropping it quite a lot.

Honey Bee Bath Bomb (RRP £3.35)

“A good soak in a Honey Bee bath will soothe and cleanse the skin thanks to its wonder trio of honey, aloe vera, and rhassoul mud, a clay mined near Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. Honey is a wonder ingredient that soothes, retains moisture and is antiseptic, and we add plenty of cooling aloe vera, too. Rhassoul mud has natural cleansing properties, and also helps condition and soften the skin.”

This bath bomb was quite strange to use it left the water looking yellow which looked strange to bath in, I was not too keen on this bath bomb in comparison to others I have used as I felt like it did nothing for me and my skin felt no softer than before I went in the bath.

Big Blue Bath Bomb (RRP £3.35)

“Big Blue’s key ingredient is a type of kelp called arame seaweed, which softens in your hot bath water. Arame is rich in vitamins and minerals including iodine, which helps to regulate the metabolism. Sea salt softens the skin, helping to remove dead skin cells, while lemon oil clears the mind and, like lavender oil, is antiseptic and cleansing.”

I absolutely adore this bath bomb and have bought it on quite a few occasions, it turns your bath water into a gorgeous teal blue which you would see in tropical countries. As soon as you step into the bath it feels soft, but can get quite slippery so you have to watch your stepping.  This bath bomb smells amazing it has to be one of my all time favourites, it also leaves my skin feeling soft and i’m left feeling relaxed. Though when the bath bomb melts it is a little strange as kelp is floating around in the bath and does not melt but this is not off putting, I definitely need a whole tube of these.

Dragon’s Egg Bath Bomb (RRP £3.35)

“Dragon’s Egg makes bathtime exciting as it fizzes and crackles and changes the colour of your water to a gorgeous citrusy gold. Its scent is reminiscent of lemon sherbet, with a hint of jasmine, leaving you feeling great and ready for a good day. Its citrus scents leave you feeling transformed and invigorated.”

I really liked this bath bomb from the description when looking for others online so I decided to purchase it, I was not disappointed. It looked absolutely amazing in the bath, when the bath bomb was fizzing and changing colour it reminded me of cinder toffee it looked great with all the golden colours. Due to the name ‘Dragon’s Egg’ I was excited to see what it contained, when the bomb started dissolving you could see the inside which was like a red/orange colour. There is also bits of glitter packed into the bath bomb which was left behind in the bath when all the water is drained, what is good about this is it is easy to clean out.

“A rich and generous cream that not only helps your skin to look its best, but also adds a glow to the small grassroots charities we work with, as all proceeds go directly to them.

With every purchase of Charity Pot, we donate 100% of the price (minus the taxes) to small, grassroots organisations that could use the helping hand to continue the incredible work that they do. Charity Pot supports organisations that align with our ethics in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights.”

Whenever I visit LUSH I always try to buy one of their charity pots as I love what they are doing to help charity, I keep meaning to buy a full sized version but I have so many of these 10g ones. This product is absolutely amazing for my hands, it leaves them incredibly soft especially with those winter months coming up.
