Yankee Candle | Spiced Orange

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

As soon as 1st September hit like most bloggers it was autumn in my eyes, I always love this time of year, all the dark cosy nights in with autumn inspired candles, chunky knitwear & plenty of hot chocolates.. cliche I know.

Candles to me are the one thing that instantly makes any room look a little bit more cosier and homely, I tend to ALWAYS have a couple of candles in each room, I blame my mother for that but I was out of any autumn inspired candles so I was seriously lacking those cosy vibes. Of course that had to be dealt with, right?

I headed straight over to the Yankee Candles and had a good old sniff of them all, Spiced Orange (£23.99) instantly caught my eye with it’s dark orange colour and scent. Spiced Orange has fragrance notes of fresh ginger, juicy citrus, ozone, spicy accord and sugared vanilla. It honestly smells incredible and fills the whole room with a spicy scent.

I opted for a large jar which burns between 110-150 hours, there’s nothing worse than your favourite candle running out after 20 hours. Usually I tend to stay away from Yankee Candles because of the price tag is pretty ridiculous at times but I just couldn’t say no to this!

I’ve been burning this none stop for the past week, it honestly smells incredible and perfect for those cosy cold and rainy days!

What’s your perfect autumn scent?

Arthur Price | Despicable Me

Despicable Me 3 has recently released in cinemas, I took the little lady to see it a couple of weeks ago and she absolutely LOVED it! it’s such a good film for both adults and kids. With the new release of Despicable Me 3 to celebrate Arthur Price have released their own china and cutlery range, so if your kids love Despicable Me then they will definitely love this, I must admit I am slightly jealous.

I was kindly sent over their *Sea of Minions three piece set (£24.95) and their *Sea of Minions four piece set of cutlery (£24.95) which has made meal time that little bit more exciting for the little one. Scarlett could barely contain her excitement to allow me to take photos before hand, to be honest I know exactly how she feels with that one when I buy a new product for the blog I literally don’t want to wait for a nice sunny day to take photos before using it and sometimes I sneakily use it.

The Sea of Minions three piece set comes with a little china cup, bowl and plate and the four piece cutlery set comes with four stainless steel cutlery including a knife, fork, tea spoon and spoon. The sets are vibrant to make meal times more fun and exciting for the little ones, Scarlett loves having her cereal from the minions bowl in the mornings. The sets are lightweight, high quality and dishwasher safe. All of their Despicable Me items come with free delivery and 15 year guarantee.

Amazon Fire Kids Tablet |

dsc_5638

In December I wrote a post featuring Kidloland surrounding the idea can using phones/tablets actually be educational for children, we’ve always been pretty flexible when it comes to letting Scarlett use technology, obviously she has a time limit on it but we allow her to use it. She usually uses my tablet or phone to watch kids Youtube which isn’t so great when you receive texts or calls because she slides them up going un noticed for a while. We decided to invest in a tablet for herself, I’ve heard about the Amazon Fire Kids Edition £100 before and it sounded pretty suited for her.

  • Easy-to-use parental controls: set screen time limits and educational goals, encouraging learning before play
  • Comes with 5000+ age-appropriate games, educational apps, videos and books with 1 year of Fire for Kids Unlimited included
  • Worry-free YouTube videos and websites: controlled access to thousands of age-appropriate websites and selected YouTube videos through the Fire for Kids web-browser
  • 2-year worry-free guarantee: If they break it, return it and we’ll replace it for free. No questions asked
  • 7″ display, quad-core processor, kid-proof case, front and rear cameras, and microSD slot for additional storage up to 200GB

dsc_5641

What mainly appealed to us is the 2-year worry-free guarantee, obviously when it comes to kids it’s likely at some point that it might get broken and being one of her favourite things to have at the moment I don’t want her to going without it and to be worrying about the cost to get the screen replaced or if the tablet gets damaged.

The tablet also has parental controls so that you are able to set screen time limits for example you can set it to the tablet can only be used between 6pm-7pm, Scarlett has adapted to that pretty well once her screen time is over it goes away. It also allows you to set educational goals so for example, Scarlett might have to do a piece of homework before having screen time.

The Amazon Fire Kids Edition comes with 5000+ games, educational apps, videos and books so there is plenty of entertainment for your little ones without them having to download endless apps, which is a pet hate of mine when she has my phone, if she doesn’t try to download them there is a risk of them being deleted and typically I can never remember what I originally had, there is no issue with that it’s all already on the tablet, what’s even better they are age appropriate.

I’d definitely recommend this if parents are looking to buy their little ones a tablet.

Toddler Clothing Haul | Nutmeg Clothing

Morrisons is always somewhere I forget to look for clothing for Scarlett, I love buying some of of her clothing from supermarkets because sometimes they are a lot nicer than what you get in high street shops. I tend to lean towards Tesco’s TU range, they have a beautiful range and do quite a lot of plum/purple colours around autumn which we both love.

With the lady baby’s 3rd birthday fast approaching clothes are always a great present, she is forever growing and she has so many toys and they just end up at the bottom of the toy box. Strolling through Morrisons I headed down to their Nutmeg clothing section which they currently had a few items on sale as well, I just wanted to put the whole lot in my basket, but I was good I only picked up a few bits that I thought she would love, each of their clothing is reasonably priced, has gorgeous designs, feels top quality and so soft to the touch.

The Magic Candy Factory!

PicMonkey Collage.jpgI was kindly invited along to the Katje’s 3D Printed Candy event in Cardiff with my husband, the event was on a stall in the shopping centre which is not the kind of event i’ve been to before.

“The Magic Candy Factory is the world’s first 3D gummy candy printer which gives the customer’s imagination all the power and allow them to create truly customised & delicious gifts and treats.”

When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely team and the founder Melissa Snover who showed us the 3D printers which were absolutely beautiful, the printer was in a wooden case with stunning laser cut wooden case, they looked really elegant. The printer allows you to create your very own unique design which practically can be in the form of any design, shapes, letters, photos etc. Once sent to the printer it prints in under 5 minutes, and what’s even better they’re free from everything! that’s right, they are vegan, gluten-free, nut free & dairy free.

Screen Shot 2016-12-21 at 15.27.56.png

These incredibly yummy treats are a perfect gift for all sweet lovers especially with Christmas next week, being a vegetarian I am forever scrolling through the ingredients list to see if they are suitable for me to eat because lets admit it I do love my sweet stuff! Whats good about The Magic Candy Factory is that there is no reading the labels and worrying if they are ok for you to eat.

You can print these yummy treats in a variety of flavours, strawberry, ripe raspberry, marvellous mango, luscious lemon, beautiful blackcurrant, elegant elderberry, gorgeous apple and tasty tropical blue and then finish them off with three different sprays, glitter dust, sour dust and fizzy dust.

For a bit more of a nosey of what went on take a look at Evan’s YouTube vid

Pre Christmas Haul

H&M Galaxy Pj & Leggings Set £14.99

When it comes to H&M clothing I just can’t say no unless I can’t squeeze myself into them then that’s a different story, pyjamas to me are essential at Christmas time or any time for that matter, personally I always request them every year as a present from my Husband. To me there is nothing better than getting into fresh bedding with brand new pjs on!

These galaxy cuffed jersey pjs are super comfortable and stretchy, I tend to go for the cuffed leg pjs as they stay in place at night instead of riding up your leg in turn making you uncomfortable and dancing around the bed.

H&M Grey Chunky Knit Jumper £24.99

I am forever obsessing with chunky knit jumpers they just look that little bit more cosier with the colder months, so this one was a no brainer especially as it is from H&M too. This jumper looks great with some high waisted jeans and little black ankle boots.

New Look Burgundy Boucle Textured Longline Cardigan £24.99

This chunky thick burgundy cardigan is perfect for winter, it comes just above the knee and looks great with a little black t-shirt or long sleeved. The cardigan has little flecks of holographic threads which gives it that snowy and Christmassy feel.

Urban Decay Shadow Box £23

Being a beauty blogger makeup is always on my to buy list especially Urban Decay, their product range is gorgeous. This shadow box palette has 12 incredible shades for £23 which allows you to create several awesome eye looks including a couple of perfect shades for Christmas day! Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palettes never fall short of being super pigmented, creamy and blendable as you can see from the photos.

Shades: Sin, Indo, Bordello, Tornado, Smog, Blackout, Flash, Mushroom, Lost, Freelove, Moonshadow and Baked Cowboy

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick £15

I am absolutely obsessed with lipsticks at the moment I feel quite bare when i’m not wearing any, especially when it comes to the deeper berry wintery shades. This lipstick is part of their comfort matte range in the shade Disturbed which is like a burnt burgundy. If you don’t like red lipstick then this might be for you, it’s deeper and darker which is perfect for both subtle eye makeup and a smokey eye look.

Kiko Skin Modernist 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer £18.90

I was in desperate need for some new foundation and have heart great things about Kiko Cosmetics so I grabbed this 2-in-1 foundation and concealer in the shade warm rose. The foundation comes with a doe foot applicator which is something different from what i’ve used before. This foundation claims to give a flawless natural satin look which lasts all day long so i’m excited to test it out.

Waterstones Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Book £8.49

I don’t tend to read a lot of books but I would love to so where better to start than Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, it is definitely on the list of things to do in the New Year. The book is beautifully presented with a gorgeous royal blue and gold cover giving it that magical feeling.

Wilko Glow Jewellery Hex Trinket £5

This has literally saved my life, I am forever needing somewhere to put my jewellery but always forget to pick something up. This elegant but cute copper mirrored trinket is the perfect to store all your favourite jewellery.

Melt With Love Advent Calendar

green-leaves-decorated-christmas-wreath-with-red-bow-graphic.gifmwl

Christmas is the best time of year because I get to indulge into my unhealthy obsessions such as pizza, chocolate, candles and clothes. The whole concept of a small gift every day until Christmas makes the build up that little bit more exciting. Melt With Love released their very own Advent Calendar* (£14.99) I needed it to fulfil my candle obsession, lucky for me Melt With Love sent me one for review. Melt With Love are an independent company that makes little heart shaped soy wax melts in a variety of scents.

mwl-1

mwl-.jpg

“The Melt With Love advent calendar contains 24 Christmas and winter scented handmade heart shaped soy wax melts

Each individual heart shaped soy wax melt will give you approximately 6-9 hours (sometimes longer) of delicious fragrance when burnt with an unscented tea light. Our soy wax melts work in all electric wax melt burners. When you are ready to replace the melt allow the burner to cool, the wax to set & simply scrape out & rinse in warm soapy water alternatively place the cooled burner in the fridge & the wax will pop out.”

mwl-4.jpg

mwl-2.jpg

The scents include: amaretto nog, blue christmas, candy cane, winter fireside, festive fairies, coco frost, pumpkin & chestnut, mistletoe kisses, love christmas, snow dragon, frosted cranberries, vanilla & spice, festive gingerbread, apple strudel & spice, winter wreath, nutmeg & ginger, frankincense & myrthh, cinnamon & apple, mulled wine & berries, chocolate orange, nutcracker, blueberry & vanilla, winter season and christmas cake.

With candles I tend to lean towards the sweeter scents like cinnamon and vanilla so this calendar was perfect for me as it is filled with all of those, if you are one for the fresher scents then Melt With Love offer these on their website. I have used Melt With Love’s soy wax melts before particularly I  love their lime, basil & mandarin which I believe is compared to Jo Malone. I can vouch for the wax melts and honestly I can say they’re incredible, the scent fills the whole room up and last for hours on end which is exactly what you want when burning a candle. Melt With Love also sells 20 soy wax melt jars (£8) filled with your favourite scent including well known perfume scents which are a perfect Christmas gift for a loved one.

Childrens Christmas Gift Guide

animated-christmas-lights-gif-10-jul-2013-02-07-35k-lmn8nk-clipart

It’s December!!! Seriously where has this year gone?! it’s flown by, so that means it’s time for Christmas. I used to always dread Christmas time since my mum passed so i’d often work Christmas Day with working in the care sector but since having Scarlett I get so excited for her, now she’s almost 3 years old she knows what Christmas is, it is truly amazing seeing her eyes light up.

The only downside to Christmas now is that I have absolutely no idea what to get her, so I complied a list of her favourite things such as shows etc and bought her at least one item of each. I’m sure I am not the only parent that struggles with what gifts to buy their kids so I thought this gift guide might help.

Trolls headphones (£19.99), Amazon Fire kids tablet (£100), Mermaid knitted blanket (£11.98), Shopkins set (£4.49), Shopkins pjs (£6.49), Trolls bedding (£10.49), My little pony (£14.99), Paw patrol toy (£9.99)

A Week In Wales!

scarlett

I feel like I have been kind of neglecting my posts around Scarlett and would definitely like to write more about her so this is where this posts comes into play, a couple of weeks ago we visited my soon to be husbands parents as we live in Rossendale and they live in Wales. I really struggle to find any sort of time to get our arses down there as often as we would like with me working every weekend and just the cash really, £80 a time is a lot of money.

So we headed down on the train from Manchester to Newport, we were really lucky actually as the weather was amazing whilst we were there so we managed to do lots of fun things. As much as I love being a mother to Scarlett and absolutely adore her I must admit it was nice to have a little break because with my Dad in Scotland and Evan’s parents in Wales we are with her every minute of the day other than when we are working.

scarlett3

scarlett2

We took Scarlett to a plum picking farm which she absolutely loved walking through the fields and touching the trees, she even had her own little bag! it was pretty adorable to see her face light up so much. We managed to grab some homemade jam and marmalade which was so yummy, also we used all the plums we picked to make a delicious plum crumble which definitely took care of those sweet tooth cravings.

scarlett5

Scarlett also had a lovely walk up to Fourteen Locks to look at the ducks and have a walk around in her pram, she absolutely loves being at her nannies always full of smiles, it was so lovely to have a week away from home and see everyone.

Toucan Box

toucanED

I have been on the hunt for a monthly activity box for Scarlett as a little treat for her and stumbled upon Toucan Box, scrolling through their website it looked pretty interesting so I looked around further. You are able to purchase three different types of boxes depending on your preference and price range which I think is a great idea.

Petite one activity (£3.95 + £0.98 postage)
Grande two activities and a book (£9.95 + £2.95 postage)
Super four activities and a book (£16.95 + £2.95 postage)

Petite delivers every two weeks, grande and super every month. Each box comes packed with loads of goodies and instructions on how to make an amazing project, pretty cool huh? In this months box Scarlett got some little medieval finger puppets, crayons, felt, ribbon, jewels and an instruction book. This months box will allow her to make a jewelled crown and some finger puppets which I hope will keep us both entertained for quite some time, as she is 1 1/2 she will need some assistance with her little box as it is aimed at those aged 3-8 (also advised on the website).

One big deal for me is that it fits through your letter box, HURRAH! It is a little tedious when parcels come for you and your not in – I know the simple things! so this is convenient and perfect in my opinion. I know that you can easily get the items yourself but I think it is so much nicer for them to have their own little parcel, it’s even addressed to them!
